Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2016

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2016
An easier way to have the 50/5 full omnicity branded would be to get the red ones and paint them into the branding eg 5247 5248 5249 5273 5274 and replace them with the Volvo b7rles

5273 and 5274 have just had wifi fitted for the spares for the Coaster, so cannot see them moving anytime soon.

Pretty much confirms what was said yesterday about them not moving due to the WIFi.

Cheers Citaro.

So will the Omnicities come from 19 then, and will the 5 and 50 gain a new brand? Tongue

How will the interworking work on the 5 and 50 on evenings and Sundays. They are both hourly routes which in turn provide a 30 minute service between South Shields and Boldon Asda. The 5 is a 1 hour journey end to end so there must be some very long layover times expected.

Me, too. It always brings a smile to my face - and isn't really one that can be copied anywhere else in the country.

I'll also miss the Whey Aye Five 0 brand if it is made defunct, as it's such a unique livery with so much effort put into it, in my opinion. It has looked great on both the Solars and the OmniCities, I think it would suit almost any single deck vehicle.

i think a new name may occur although i will miss this brand and easy ride from Durham to Jarrow now although my bottom will become numb

Yeah. It is one of those brands which is really clever. I remember when i first told my dad about it when the brand was introduced, he laughed and i did not have a clue why as it seemed like they had just used a normal geordie phrase and put 'five 0' on the end with no real effort put into it (at that time, i had no knowledge of 'Hawaii Five 0'). Because of how clever it is, it has to be one of the best brands that Go North East have.

I also miss the Lime. It didn't have much of a meaning, in comparison to the Angel, for example, but it had a certain ring to it that was easy to remember.

Or even just Angel? Not saying your wrong but look at Citylink. The blue and orange clearly indicate which service is which. Maybe this can be the same?

Does it have the coach type of seats in it?

EDIT - it's deleted now, so at least someone has a photo of it.

I'm just going by what the rumours were. Like you say, it could always just become 'Angel' in the same sense the 57 did with the Citylink brand, but in a different colour.

It is probably to the same specification as the new vehicles last year (minus the red kite B9s)

Aye. It was much better than the likes of indiGo and Green Arrow, obviously...
