RE: Anything and Everything
Sunderland council could be closing the Monkwearmouth Station Museum in Sunderland due lack of funding.

Hopefully they go ahead with plan B and only close it for a short time.

Hopefully they'll not go the Durham route and demolish it to make way for (yet more, expensive) student flats.

The original Post Mortem was inconclusive and the Coroner told us it would take 6-8 weeks to get a conclusive result, we now know the cause.

Coroner let my mam know yesterday...Cause was Multiple Organ Failure brought on by Pneumonia...

It is a bit of a relief to my mother who has beat the shit out of herself for 7 weeks now wondering if there was something we could have done to prevent the death...It apparantly came on that quick she didn't know what hit her.

We will never forget and always remember my sister, but we all have some closure now and we can get on re-building our lives best we can, I think the coroner said she was a time bomb waiting to go off and most likely would have died anyway, so it gives me a bit peace, knowing she did not suffer in those last few moments and she went quick.

Thanks to everyone here who showed us support and friendship
My Great Aunty was discovered at her sheltered accommodation dead this morning by police from a presumed heart attack. Sad

In other news I was awoken this morning at 2:33am by my Central London hotel fire alarm from someone smoking in the corridor. Someone was smoking on my train home too. (1N19)

Get yourself a BOFH one to replace it. It'll come in handy for all the tech faults on NEB.

Best of luck to them, but it's going to be another case of the Durham DLI in my opinion. Visitor numbers are so low that they can't justify in keeping it open, especially when their central government subsidy has been cut to the point that councils are forced to pick and choose what services to retain.

RE: Anything and Everything
I'd have thought the way forward for the DLI and Monkwearmouth would be to asset transfer it to a community group, it's worked very well for community centres in Gateshead which no longer receive funding.

The Community Group then becomes eligible for the thousands of available grants out there to support things, plus out of council control they can take on corporate sponsorship etc.

As for the DLI, there's a certain large University that could happily support it

There's a blast from the past!
Does he have Clifton, Srriva or Fyacbuk Polis helping him?

Just read his letter to Michael Portillo...

Kudos to the fella for trying.

I was there with the little Constantopolous's just before Christmas and apart from an older guy wandering about, we were the only visitors in the place.
The road layout and one-way system isn't any help (in my opinion) and with the regeneration of the area - I wonder if the council are best waiting until that is complete, before making a decision.

Quick question for anyone who travels about on planes now and again...

I mighy be heading to Belfast in June, I dont have a passport, expired years ago.

I know for domestic flights Photo ID can be used, but I dont want a passport as I have no plans to go abroad anytime in the next few years.

I dont have a driving licence, but if possible I will put in for a provisional licence, would a provisional be enough to satisfy an airline or will I be best getting a passport

I flew internally with BA last year and went to Belfast with Stena Line from Cairnryan.
Not once was I asked for id. Despite having it.

Mind, I did check-in online with BA and only had hand luggage. Only had to show boarding pass at the obvious locations.

I would check with the airline and sewme what they suggest.

I think you have to go through the same rigmarole with a provisional license as a full license for the photo ID part, so I don't see why it wouldn't be valid.

I have neither a driving license nor a passport, either. Amazing how many pretty trivial operations don't seem to realise that possession of neither is compulsory.
