How many vehicles were provided for MRP? There was gaps of up to 45 minutes between buses today.

I counted about seven, four of which were in the Cullercoats-North Shields section at about 1200.

Having seen the route it wouldn't take much to screw the whole thing up...
I saw GNE posting something about delays in Whitley Bay at lunchtime which would probably explain it.

Funding.
There are some articles contained within citaro''s link that explains how and why the funding came about and the reasoning money was spent on track and infrastructure instead.

Always is, how bad were the tracks before they were replaced, or how bad are the tracks at Whitley bay etc?

Pretty sure some of it was/is the original track.

One of the articles mentioned the embankments being made out of ash, which obviously complicates things.

Was that the toxic ash from the Byker incinerator - that contained dioxins?

I would hope not!

I had guessed ash/slag from industry back during the original construction of the Tyneside railway network.

There are minor delays to trains running between Whitley Bay and St James due to a technical fault. Please leave extra time for your journey.

It is parked up in the depot, I go past it everyday on my trip to school from Regent Centre to Longbenton. The same with 4002. I believe they are used for training as 4001/4040 have been making up sets commonly on a morning
