I believe firmly in alien abduction (really) and I don't think there can be much abducting done in Sunderland

A320 NEO for Lufthansa.

I must say, I love the new engines. They make the A320 look more rigid somehow.

Going to Cancun and back in July this year with Thomson. Cannot wait to get on the 787.

I'm flying in 2 weeks.

It looks like the new Pratt and Whitney Engines, Pratt and Whitney's have always been extra big.
The CFMs are a bit smaller than the Pratt and Whitneys.

Does it cloak missiles?

Had a brilliant flight back from Madrid today on an Iberia A340 - just about to land into Heathrow, seconds from touchdown and had the engines roar back up to full throttle for an aborted landing. Had a plane quite close to us at the same time coming in at 3 o'clock. Was a brilliant experience. Took a sped-up video of the whole thing expecting just a normal landing!

Monarch flights cancelled as airline ceases trading

Monarch Airlines has ceased trading and its 300,000 future bookings for flights and holidays have been cancelled, the Civil Aviation Authority has said.

About 110,000 customers are currently overseas and the government has asked the CAA to charter more than 30 aircraft to bring them back to the UK.

Bit late to ask this, but does anyone know who is operating the "surface" transfers back to Manchester Airport (or Leeds-Bradford for that matter)? Looking at the CAA's website there are at least 10 flights to Birmingham and three to Gatwick carrying passengers who flew out from Manchester. Two other flights are advising that MAN bound passengers will be contacted individually.

(31 May 2018, 11:05 pm)JM03 wrote Does anyone think a newer version of the 757 is currently essential for boeing right noe?

In my opinion there are a number of factors to consider.

1 - They need to compete against the A321LR. The 757 is perfect for this; but the current 757s are becoming old. The last one rolled off in 2004 - the technology and the engines are not the most efficient (but definitely some of the most powerful!).
2 - Boeing have the 737 MAX10 as a competitor to the A321LR. This will somewhat replace the 757 long haul missions - but it is important to note that they say it is not a direct replacement of any of the 737 family.

I think it would take a lot of effort and money to reopen the production line; as well as a lot of capital investment to update the design. It's easier to do when a model is already in production - such as the A32X Neo series. I think it will want to invest more capital into its 787 and 737 lines, as well as the proven 777 line - especially having just gained approval from the FAA for folding wingtips.

Obviously, this is just my opinion - but it would seem they have made their minds up on this one.

One of my least favourite aircrafts.
Granted it was a cattle class holiday flight, but sitting towards the back, staring at an endless tunnel of people in front of me, summed the aircraft up for me.

However many hours flying to southern Turkey and back on that thing was painful.
Prefer the wider bodied (767/747) aircraft, even if the feeling of space is deceiving and it isn't really there.

Andreos - you need to try a Titan 757. Had one of those instead of BA last year and it was sheer luxury! Saying that, I've always thought I'd rather have an A32x short haul - whereas for long haul I like a 747/777. But, I have to say, I have a massive soft spot for the E170/E190 series...

Trying a 789 this summer of BA. Shall see how that compares to the 744 I have back from Phoenix!
