Go North East: Service Suggestions

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
(03 Apr 2016, 5:42 pm)Andreos1 wrote Assuming Weardale still extend to Kilhope in the summer, maybe it is worth GNE extending their Alston or Allenheads services to the museum too.

It would be an infrequent service, but I feel it would aid numbers on the Hexham based routes by having an attraction such as Kilhope made accessible. Not too different to the Hadrians Wall service, but not a standalone offer like that is.
Obviously it opens up new options for passengers living in the dales - particularly if the services were to connect somehow with the Weardale service.

Allenheads to Killhope, Nenthead and Alston could be a possible route, however I can't see there being a massive market for the route. It'd make for a useful link though, so possibly something ADAPT or another 'community bus' project could look at?

To be honest, the market on the Hexham based routes that head down that way, won't be huge either.
I am surprised some of them have lasted as long as they have.

The idea was borne out of growing the network, with little additional outlay.
Particularly with the summer/tourist season looming.

I didn't realise how far you could go for a one zone Buzzfare. You can go all the way from Matfen or Corbridge to Gilsland and Alston for £4.75 all day!

Let's hope the powers that be, don't see that post of yours.
There will be a mauve and indigo polka dot zone stuck in there before we know it!

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
Appreciate this could happen in 6 months time during the next Sunderland service review/changes, but...

Service 36.
It is now missing out the hospital and not maintaining the promises made in 2015 - when links from areas that didn't have a direct connection to the hospital, were introduced.

In order to reintroduce those links and partly make up for the cancellation of the 99, I suggest the following.

Chester - Sunderland  (as per May changes).
From Park Lane:- via Fawcett St, Hylton Road (serving hospital), Pallion and then pick up new route to Castletown.

I think this is achievable with the current PVR.

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
I think we can definitely withdraw the Loop and Red Arrows from the suggestions since the vehicles on there are currently getting a refresh (repainted etc). Rebranding every single minibus service indiGo would also be pointless - I think it only works now because the NTL routes go nowhere near the East Durham routes.

Sulgrave twice? Traversing it once is bad enough.

The 56 has cropped in various definitions of a 'boring route'; a prolonged tour of Washington will probably place the route in a different category - 'suicidal'.

As the emergency services are somewhat stretched due to austerity measures, I think it's best to leave both the 56 and X1 as they are Wink

Why put single decks on what is already a double-deck service? Metrocentre to Crawcrook and Prudhoe needs deckers!

Which way would it go its quite a long way from the A19 to Park Lane, including Traffic etc

It would be nice to see a bus to Middlesbough/Darlington from Sunderland like the good old days.

Like to see the X88 run more often, shame not enough people use it.

It would be good to see a bus running from Newcastle to Darlington.
TheOKExpressway possibly returned as service OK1 from Newcastle to Darlington via Gateshead would be good.

Fast Cats: 12 streetlites would come for Deptford for services X35 and X36 with one spare for solars to replace cadets
That was part one Wink

Fast Cats and Tynedale Links continued: 14 streetlites would come to allow an every half-hour full route X36 with one red spare. 4955, 4973-4976 and 5205 would replace Deptford's cadets. 5206-5208 would 549-551 and 5209 would move to Hexham to provide extra capacity on service 74, 680 and 688 with 5209 running on the 688, 5210 running on the 680 and 5229 running on service 74 with it's wifi and comfortable seats allowing for 556 to be withdrawn and the solo that would run on the 74 to run on the 686/687 and the one on the 688 to run on service 682. 618 could be kept as a spare with 557 also being withdrawn. 619 could then replace 547 at Stanley.

TOON LINK and X66: 5234-5238 would replace 5391-5394 on service X66 with 5401 being taken from Stanley to supplement 5391-5394 on service 12/12A. 5234-5238 would provide extra capacity on the X66. This would free up 5332 to go to Deptford for replacing 565. With the loss of NEXUS service 68, 626 could gain a green ASDA livery to allow for 9105 to be sent back to optare.

RED KITE and Venture V9: 6 streetlites would arrive for Red Kite service 45/45E/46/47 and would allow for the 47 to continue to Consett meaning service V9 will no longer need to run. This would free up 6118-6121 and 652 with 6118-6120 going to  to remove 6008, 6010 and 6015 with 6121 going to Crook to replace 6038. 641 would replace 573 at Deptford with a surplus bus removing 574.

Tynedale Links and Tynedale Express: Service X84 renumbered 684 again and interworks with other Tynedale Links services. X84 follows service 685 to Hexham as a direct competitor and X85 remains unchanged with B9s running on new X84 and X85 and Solars would probably run the 684.

See It Do It and service 61: 61 has been mentioned above. 15 streetlites including one spare would come for services 35/35A/36. That would mean that 5298-5309 and 5325-5327 could be cascaded to remove:
5298 removing 6034 at Deptford. The rest could form a reserve role in the fleet.

Ignore this, it is being modified after I accidentally pressed 'post'

(08 Apr 2016, 5:30 pm)Richard Young wrote It would be good to see a bus running from Newcastle to Darlington.
TheOKExpressway possibly returned as service OK1 from Newcastle to Darlington via Gateshead would be good.

To operate on a combined 15min frequency with the X21 and follow the same route as far as Durham.
To then follow the same route as the X12 to Bowburn and then use the motorway to the Burtree Gate junction and then in to Darlington via the A68.

The 21 would then be able to operate Chester - Newcastle only. This should assist with reliability.
They could even re-introduce the 21A and B to utilise the full allocation, without changing the frequency of the 21.

I think the maths works for that (maybe).

RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions
Wonder if it would be worth combining the 30 and V7/V8. Would provide a few new links and would save people changing over. Also I think the V7 should be re routed via Hobson as it's not often people get on in Burnopfield really. I also think a link between Stanley and Rowlands Gill would be good. A new V10 service would replace the V7 and V8 in East Stanley/Fines Park and operate: East Stanley-Stanley-Annfield Plain Fines Park - Catchgate - Burnopfield - Gibside - Rowlands Gill, The additional buses could come from Nexus Solos.
