RE: Stagecoach 2016/2017 order
I'm quite astonished at how many E400s have been ordered.
Hopefully Newcastle and Hartlepool get them this year.
Newcastle needs both E400s and long E200s
And Hartlepool needs 10.8m E200s
EDIT I understand the models are MMCs

It'll be because of the upcoming double decker DDA deadline.

Yep, So most will probably be aimed at Devon and the South East and west, Where there's still a lot of Olympians and early Tridents around I believe.
Though Newcastle have a Decker shortage and some MAN Routes could do with double deckers, And Hartlepool has elderly Darts to replace.

I'm surprised London aren't getting most of the order.... they normally get more than anyone else.

It would be nice for the Killingworth buses to have the new Enviro 400s because 19379-89 were originally for the 38. 430-446 for the 1, 670-83 for 12 and of course hybrids on 39/40. I think Slatyford should get them. The 400s on there are from 2007.

RE: Stagecoach 2016/2017 order
As we know, fulll details of the 2016/7 order have yet to be released. However, I have heard three comments about Manchester - two from reliable sources, and all three are very similar to each other. Suffice to say, that further substantial investment is expected over the Summer. This would fit in with aspirations to have only Euro4 or better buses running on or near to the various Quality Bus Corridors by the time the Oxford Road corridor down to Manchester Royal Infirmary is completed towards the end of the year. This is a voluntary scheme (broadly similar to London's LEZ) which will take in the full Guided Busway route from Leigh/Atherton through Salford, Manchester city centre and along Oxford Road. Based on long established routes the latter will effectively extend beyond MRI through Fallowfield to Withington and into Didsbury. It will also incorporate the Rochdale Road corridor from Middleton through North Manchester, into Piccadilly and along Portland Street.
For those that don't know, this scheme is the reason for MagicBus operations receiving early Euro4 E400s (as against Euro3s), as well as 6 re-engined ex LOndon Tridents from Gillmoss

Do you think that the Scania chassis on the E400MMC bodywork will be the last 'heavy duty' decker to be produced on the market? Not dissing Streetdecks or ADL Integrals for that matter as particularly the later have proven themselves more than capable if well looked after and so should the former overtime.

I would now be amazed if Scania sell many Euro6 vehicles. See below for the reason regarding why there's no Scanias on order this year
mbonwick (source: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p='2527602&postcount=30) wroteScania are not flavour of the year - they refuse to fit electric cooling fans (instead insisting on belt driven ones) and were making noises about the modification program last year invalidating warranties. Plus Stagecoach were unwilling to keep paying for an external contractor to modify them.
Goes without saying that a demand-responsive fan leads to a noiceable fuel saving over one that's always on.

Just read the point, couldn't open the link but totally agree. I do think it should be down to the operator as to whether or not they want the fan belt on constantly. Wonder if Stagecoach would consider using ZF Ecolife Gearboxes (same as Arriva) for their interurban / rural routes though for any future orders.

Stagecoach have a long standing partnership with Voith so I doubt any ZFs will be in the Integral orders.
ZFs work better with the Cummins ISBe compared to Voiths though.
