X10 during the week isn't the most interesting with most of it being A19. The Sunday one has more variation of scenery with going to Peterlee and Billingham.

The best bit of the X10 is the other passengers nodding off!

Really quite liked the 9 full journey, quite fun to see the back route that bypasses the toll.

Boring after that though! Can't stand it going all the way to Sunderland, normally get off at Boldon or Jarrow and get the 9 which is normally behind. Some of the Vykings fly up the road past the Greyhound Stadium.

Since I've only done the full route, I've only had the pleasure of taking this trip on an omnicity. It certainly didn't fly, but didn't bore me.

I often do the same with the 9, it just seems more fun if you do the Jarrow - Sunderland stretch on a double decker. Don't mind the 9 route so much, especially like going through the tunnel. Still dream of getting a double decker for a full journey to North Shields though as I'd like to go through the tunnel on a decker.

If you try the journey at about half 5 Mon-Fri from North Shields that is normally a decker - might be too late getting the last 21 back to Darlo though?

Looking at the timetables as part of the upcoming changes for the 9 and 21/X21, the 9 leaves North Shields at 17:22 and arrives at Park Lane for 18:24, then the X21/21 leaves Park Lane on the last run to Newton Aycliffe at 18:30, so it is possible to do such trip, may give it a go one day and hopefully I'll be in luck! Yeah I've seen a Gemini on there so you might be even luckier than getting a B7

Here's hoping! Going to try and get about on some routes more in the north east but it's difficult when I'm now fitting it around trips elsewhere.

Some extra of mine are:
Best: 20/20A, 794, 56 (near Nissan, the rest is unbelievably dull) and S1
Worst: 309, 310, 9 (if you get a renown), 10 and old 31

How 309/310 boring. And how can the S1 be good it only goes round the metrocentre in a circle

The draw of the S1 is the novelty of taking all the access roads which would be strictly verboten by any other means.

Sometimes the Ikea staff announce over the tannoy that cars can use that exit.
I think it is when it gets busy out the front around Asda, as they start wittering on about different access roads.
However, when coming out of the rear exit and turning towards Swalwell, you run the risk of a speeding 45 (or similar) ploughing in to the back of you, as it hurtles past Maplin etc.

Have seen them do it when the roads around Asda are quiet

That gate used to be kept completely closed, apart from deliveries. Back then, the bus did a loop of the car park, dropped people off where the IKEA entrance used to be and then left the way it went in.

The hidden depths of Metrocentre. I've never been on the S1 before, maybe I shall soon!

Just thought I would revive this thread.

Interesting - X71/X70/X72, 689, X21 (past Durham), 65, 16/16A, X10/9 on an evening its a so nice, X20

Boring - 25 (old), 56, 8, 50, 5, 51/52/58/57/93/94, 61 (what a boring ride when going to Peterlee), 35/35A, 20

I must do the 74 soon!

21 Eldon Square to Percy Street, which I noticed coming out of Eldon Square earlier.

I didn't think there'd be much demand for a shuttle bus down the street, but hey ho, gaps need to be plugged!

It depends how we're classifying interesting and boring.
It could be argued that the X10 is an incredibly boring route as it's just a straight road with a few stops, but as I've mentioned before it's quiet interesting sitting backwards and just watching people go by in their cars, you never know what you're going to see!
I also quite like routes that go through 'dodgy' estates, it's guaranteed there'll be some drama to keep you entertained.

I must say the views on my X45 when it goes along the Centrelink on a morning and the sun is shining on the River is an unreal view.

I would highly recommend everyone do that, just get the bus from the Metrocentre. It only took like 8 mins compared to the 5 going over the Bridge GNE should send buses down their more often

Nothing boring about the 8. It has a bit of everything.

The 74 is lovely. I wish I could persuade eldest to try it again.
