GNE took over the service buses and routes, since the bus services there did was mostly secured by durham county council, also won the contract for service 238 peterlee to Easington originally ran by sherburn coaches which eventually got turned into service 207/208 circulars, service 210 (211) got extended from peterlee via A19 to Sunderland (same route as Arriva X21) but the extension to Sunderland was eventually withdrawn to the lack of passengers on this section. service 211 peterlee to Middlesbrough was eventually withdrawn in the favour of service X9, Arriva service 246 secured by DCC got into the hands of GNE and renumbered as 206, service 30 was totally different as this service was put on to compete against Arriva service 23 (230) with another compete service D4 in Durham to compete against Arriva service 64 as when GNE purchased Northunbria Coaches and then started running the bargain buses (X41/X42?) with cheaper fares than Arriva, then Arriva started to run buses as 153 against GNE 53/54 then GNE with D4 and 30, but before it go way out of hand both companies came to agreement with each carving up an area each.
