Speaking of Emmanuel College, I followed and passed a Vyking tonight on scholars duties.
Absolutely rammed, with what looked like all seats taken and standees.

This is the exact reason why I suggested for the Red Arrows to get an upgrade last year so that minus 7 for the Pronto, then Riverside would've ended up with the following:

- 6049 (T), 6050, 6051 plus 1x B7 based at Hexham and 3x based at Riverside.

This would've then meant that up to 3x non TTX branded tachographed vehicles being on that route at any one point.

Example:

TTX VOR1 = 6049 (T)
TTX VOR2 = 6084 (T) corporate livery but primarily for the TEN; with 6050 taking 6084's place on the TEN
TTX VOR 3 = 6071 (T) repainted into corporate livery but primarily for the TEN; with 6051 taking 6071's place on the TEN

The three last resort vehicles at Riverside after this would've consisted off 3941 or 42 (one based at Hexham), 3963 and 3964 after all of the 3x tachographed B9s have been deployed.

No matter how many spares the depot has, the majority TTX route is so far away  that a breakdown will always result in missed journies as it takes so long for the replacement vehicle to get there.

I think moving the operation, at least in part, to Peterlee would allow quicker recovery from breakdowns.

Hi everyone

I am wishing to travel on the X9 or X10 to Middlesbrough and back from Newcastle on Saturday and was wondering if anybody knows the most cost effective return ticket of getting there and back and also what to ask for when I get on the bus. Many thanks Chris

How are you travelling to the bus station to start your journey?

Stanley ones could be X70/1 / 6 as they are last resource for the service , riverside will be 67/69

I'd say Olympians and the darts are lower down the chain than renowns. The renowns have been on 45/46/16/X30/X31/X70/X71/6/V8 in recent times so I wouldn't say it's more likely to come up on the northern's route.

I'm thinking of starting from Northumberland Park metro and get the 19 down to Cobalt business park and then change for the 309 Coblt Clipper to Haymarket and then change there for the x9/ x10 but I'm not sure what ticket to ask for and costs.

Assuming you dont have any pre-existing tickets for the Metro or ANE, an Explorer ticket may be the best (and cheaper option), if you are using the Metro and then two operators.

If you do and are only paying for the GNE service, it maybe worth getting a 3 zone day ticket.
I have no idea if you can get a return on the X9/10 or how much it would be compared to the 3 zone ticket.

and this would be £7.80 if you own the key card and are paying full fare.

Thanks for your help so far. From looking online at the buzzfare zones and noticing that it would be 4 zones (blue purple, red and turquoise), would I need to ask the driver for a four zone buzzfare with the said colours or should I just ask for an all zones buzzfare which of the website is correct should be £7.80. Thanks again Chris

The  3 zone ticket automatically covers you for all zones. Think it prints as a 3zone+.

As I said earlier though, depending on your method of payment for the Metro and Arriva service - the Explorer may work out cheaper.

It's only 3 zones per trip mate. The ticket allows you to go on any route, regardless of zones and starting points for unlimited usage until the day time buses finish (I think it's the 49 at 00:50?).

Further on from what you have posted, the 4 zones I had said comes from getting the 19 from Northumberland Park Interchange to Cobalt South and then the 309 from Cobalt South to Haymarket Bus station. After this I would then get the Tyne Tees express to Middlesbrough.

I take it this would be travelling through 4 zones?
