The leaflet changes are on the stagecoach buses in Sunderland, but not in the nexus travel shop at interchange, the new timetables won't be circulated yet.

14 will be dropping the Trimdon Avenue Shops to West Lane duplicate (which is no longer needed anyway) which runs off the 202.
39 will be in someway linked to the extra fifth bus during the week currently being a decker off schools which will need a working revision before September.

I personally think the changes to service 3 in Sunderland will cause so much confusion.
Farringdon 3 should be numbered 3F
Gilley law 3 should be numbered 3G
Or simply 2 and 3 as it was pre 2005.

Think all the changes look interesting.
4 back in Farringdon after 11 years will catch people out

I agree with them renumbering the 3 as, 2 and 3, it would be easier...

Yeah and helps if drivers know where the buses will go. Getting a different story from most drivers. However the outcome is that I'm losing a link to my lock up and now have a 5 mins walk from a bus stop.

As for South Bents well it's tight for a bus to get round at times but to cut them off is a disgrace. Mainly older people there and will struggle to walk to the coast road!

All it needed was more time in the timetable for the current 18 and 19 to work... But yet again profits before customers...

I'm surprised that the 18/19 haven't been reduced to an hourly service.

But more time would mean an extra bus, costing £100k+ a year. i would guess the 18/19 struggles to cover its costs as it is without adding extra costs which would make the whole service completely unsustainable. At least this way the majority of the route continues to be served, hopefully in a more sustainable way

As for South Bents, I'm sure Stagecoach will have told Nexus how many passengers travel from there. Nexus could have easily served it by diverting the 558, so no extra cost to the taxpayer, but have chosen not to which suggests Stagecoach's decision is correct and is hardly a disgrace

You would still need 4 buses to cover the PVR
Wouldn't even be considered halfing a frequency if you aren't halfing the cost
Deleted   04 Jun 2016, 10:35 pm
One thing I've never seen any comments on is how pennywell will lose its cross links between service 10 and 11 on a Sunday withe the increase in pvr from 4 to 5 so buses will operate into and out of pennywell as the same service

So an extra bus or two at around £80,000 each a year would help a huge loss making servie?? Stagecoach have taken a massive hit on these services for a lot of years so saying profits before customers is a bit idiotic really.

Think it was even longer ago than that - don't recall any Sunderland Busways service 1, though I know in corporation days there was a 1 which partly became the 101 - but it was long gone by '86 I think?

I don't think there's been a service numbered '1' in the days post de-regulation.

The '101' of which you speak operated by between CBS and Grangetown and was withdrawn sometime between May 1983 and May 1984.

IIRC it went as part of the October 1983 service changes.

There was a Sunderland busways service 1, didn't last long though. The younger generation wouldn't remember it, and it wouldn't of been in the TWPTE guides neither, and the timetable for service 1 wasn't in the busways yellow format timetable. It was in a single sheet of paper.

Thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately, I only have timetable booklets which the Tyne and Wear PTE produced yearly. I don't have the supplements  so it's often difficult to pinpoint an exact date (or month).

Service 101 was withdrawn and replaced on toward road with new service 139/140.

Same time service X14 was withdrawn and replaced with new service 139/140 with using the same route of old service X14 between moorside and Sunderland bus station.
