Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes

Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes

I'm assuming so as Stockton - Teesside Park has historically been more popular than M'boro - Teesside Park in terms of bus routes.

It's good they're expanding the offering to Teesside Park but I'm also surprised the S1 hasn't been spoiled by traffic around Teesside Park, I imagine it's very easy to get off schedule.

Well nothing has appeared on VOSA for the S1, so I imagine it will continue.

When I've done the S1, I've found the timetable to be pretty slack with a fair bit of waiting often having to be observed at the Morrisons stop and also at Stockton High Street North. Think the fact that the S1 comes from the Tees Barrage area probably helps reliability as much of the traffic is on the slip roads coming off the A66.

It is nice to see Middlesbrough getting a direct link to Teesside Park along with Stockton, sadly still just on Saturday's, would be nice to see it become Monday - Saturday but I don't think the resources are there and I imagine numbers would be lower during the week, excluding maybe school holidays.

Think that was the reason why I never did it last year, the only way for me to get to Darlington on the morning is a incredibly expensive taxi or a lift, also I had a 40 odd minute wait for the 7 on the night, fortunately the wait is shortened to about 10 minutes this year due to the 5A now running on Sunday evenings again.

Good to see an increase for the X4 to every 30 mins on summer Sunday's!

Fancy Arriva cutting back.  To see some comments, I thought it was only GNE that did that!

Stagecoach take 5 or 6 buses out of Sunderland and not a peep mentioned.

To be fair, neither ANE or SNE get as much comment, regardless of the subject and whether it is positive or not.
If people are going to lavish praise on an operator for doing x, y or z, then it is only fair there is criticism too. It can't always be positive and I think comment on the forum and elsewhere probably reflects that to some degree.

RE: Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Think its down to who/how many go on each page. I never go on the GNE page so don't know how much comment there is but there's been plenty of comment about the Stagecoach changes in Sunderland. I think people are resigned to endless Arriva cutbacks especially where they unfortunately have a monopoly.

The Marske Estate service has never been hourly. It wasn't linked to the 81 til after that went half hourly.

One small additional change that isn't mentioned on the website. From the change, the 62/62a will used Stand 3 in Middlesbrough Bus Station alongside the 64/64a instead of stand 4, leaving this stand to the Redcar Sapphire routes only.

Key point:
  • The peak journeys to Easington at 1650 1720 1750 are withdrawn. The 1805 departure from Middlesbrough Bus Station which currently terminates in Saltburn is extended to Easington Monday to Friday only
  • The first departure from Whitby on Weekdays is retimed to run 5 minutes late throughout at 0602 (presently 0557).
  • Unless there's a small error - an additional all year Sunday journey is introduced leaving Easington at 1048 to Redcar (arriving 1136).
  • The Summer extra Sunday journeys are expected to start at the end of May if reintroduced in 2017. The additional requirement in the summer is 3 and it appears to be all worked from Redcar depot

The 15 change is it reverting to serve the stops at Argos in Stockton before picking up the diversion. 21a is likely the same.
