Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2016

I don't think the 19 will receive any new vehicles just yet. I can however see something like this happening down the line and maybe some newer buses then:

- 9: Current 9 route from North Shields to Sunderland every 30 minutes
- 9A (split at Cramlington for Tacho rules): Current 19 route from Ashington to Percy Main then 9 route to Sunderland every hour
- 9B: Blyth - Newsham - High Pit then same route as 9A to Sunderland every hour
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2016
I was told yesterday by a Percy Main employee that the 19 would be receiving Solo's, along with Washington for an extension of the 'indiGo' brand.

The 19 would be a bit of squeeze at certain times especially between Northumberland Park for Solo's
Though Washington routes would be alright as most services have MPDs or Cadets/Merits on them, And the Solo that GNE buys is nearly halfway in size between a MPD and a Cadet so fits in just nicely.

It wouldn't surprise me if GNE are planning on having the Indigo brand introducted to Washington this year.. Seems to be a trend atm.

If that info from the driver is true.

Not sure on the passenger numbers for the 19 though so can't comment on the rumoured Solo's, tbh its the same as Washington.

Solos would be no good on the 19 especially at peak times. And even still it gets busy especially around North Shields and Seaton Deleval to Cramlington.

It was either 8311 or 8312, both have adverts for Gosforth Great Park Academy, a school that will be built shortly. However, my dad is involved in the planning of the school with him being in charge of 105 schools himself and apparently the adverts are going to be replaced because of copyright infringement due to the advert showing the Gosforth Academy logo, the new school is not related to that school

They could receive 37 seat examples. Angel

Why?

It may sound odd but for customers, if it helps them to recognise their bus etc then that all that matters and not the name or the cosmetic side(what the brand looks like) of things.

I guess as an enthusiast, then if it is "Blue arrow" it does as I say sound odd and would of probably preferred if any brand name was related to the number of the route or anything that has any meaning to the route but I won't be losing sleep either way.

Me neither, and I bet I need more beauty sleep than you BLM  Smile

I dont know the brand name to be honest, but if it is called Blue Arrow, does it not make sense that there is already a Green Arrow going to the Metrocentre and they share common sections of route from Newcastle?

Think you need more beauty sleep as you haven't replied to the person that you think you have Tongue

I agree on the Blue Arrow and Green Arrow sharing sections of route point.

To me it sounds a daft name to brand it... if of course it's "Blue Arrow", might as well bring back "Silver Arrow".

That's my personal view though.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2016
From what I have gathered, the points being made against 'Blue Arrow' seem to be because there is already a 'Green Arrow' brand.

I, personally, don't see anything wrong with it. A valid point that has been raised is that the 11 and 97 both operate between Metrocentre and Newcastle and to similar routes at that. I think it would make sense to maybe show that the services have a similarity and this can easily be done through the branding. Afterall, a similar thing was done with the Citylink brand was introduced to service 57 on a different colour. Nobody complained about that so I honestly don't see what is any different here (providing that is the brand, of course).

This is the difficult part, they both share the same surname, haha.

Not the driver....

Issues with the 1 today?

Noticed one scooting down Old Durham Road NIS.

What was the name of the fella on the GNE FB page who used to moan about the 1?
'Illegitimis non carborundum'

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2016
I see the GNE site hasn't been updated yet...the services changed on the 22 May!

Still no "Whey Aye five-0" tab for the 5
Still says they run the 68
61 isn't down as "Simplicity"
X36 down as "Fast Cats"

----

Some information on the brand tabs is wrong too:

Still says the 2/2A run every 10 minutes on part of the routes
Still says the 36 runs to "Royal Hospital" Town End Farm" and "Southwick"

You would think this would be updated after the services changed.

Is the short journey on the 5 on Saturday evening ran by riverside?
(The journey that terminates at Bolden)

We got caught out by it, the other week - caught it from Newcastle, only for it to terminate at Gateshead and turn straight back.

Severe congestion in the town about midday. No idea what the cause was, as I just avoided it instead.

A1 was a nightmare around the same time too. My X24 was 25 minutes late into the Metrocentre, and I'd gotten on it on time in Durham!
