(02 Jun 2016, 5:44 pm)Dan wrote The contract for the Sunderland Connect 700/701 services is up for renewal this year.
Sunderland City Council will provide 3 low-carbon hybrid vehicles in a dedicated livery to operate this contract. The use of these vehicles will be subject to a separate agreement between the successful contractor and Sunderland City Council.
The details of vehicles to be provided are as follows:-
- Optare Solo SR Hybrid – NK61 EFY (Capacity 49)
- Optare Solo SR Hybrid – NK61 EGY (Capacity 49)
- Optare Solo SR Hybrid – NK62 DWY (Capacity 48)
It should be noted that it is extremely likely that these vehicles will need to be re-painted during the term of this contract.
The contract will require the successful bidder to operate a term-time timetable (17th September 2016 until 7th July 2017) and a separate summer timetable (8th July 2017 to 2nd September 2017).

(03 Jun 2016, 3:40 am)Dan wrote I'd forgotten to include details of the daytime 701 service being up for tender as per the daytime 700 and evening 701.
This is a one year contract between 17/09/16 and 07/17/17, with option to extend contract by one year. Vehicle specification is 1x low-floor Euro 5 vehicle with a minimum capacity of 60.

(09 Aug 2016, 7:01 pm)Dan wrote I wouldn't have thought so, but I'd say 95% of the people using these buses are University of Sunderland staff and students who are entitled to free travel on the 700/701 services if they present a valid University ID card... So it doesn't make too much of a difference anyway.

I would imagine the Sunderland Connect buses will go in for a repaint soon then?

(12 Dec 2016, 12:34 pm)GuyParkRoyal wrote Nexus are tendering for the following bus services: 333, 335, 392, W1, W1A and W3. The start date for the contracts will be in March 2017.
(12 Dec 2016, 3:54 pm)Tom wrote Thought Phoenix had won them for longer than a few months.
(12 Dec 2016, 4:07 pm)Dan wrote The response deadline was 05/12/2016, so Nexus should reveal which operator the contract has been awarded to shortly.
The response deadline is 03/01/2017, with the contracts being awarded by the end of January 2017 and commencing 19/03/2017. The contracts will expire 17/03/2018, so another fairly short-term contract length.
Service 333: 1x Euro 4 vehicle with a minimum capacity of 36
Service 335: 2x Euro 4 vehicles with a minimum capacity of 23
Service M71: 1x Euro 4 vehicle with a minimum capacity of 23 and maximum vehicle length of 9.5m
Services W1/W1A: 2x Euro 4 vehicles with a minimum capacity of 36 and maximum length of 9.0m
Service W3: 1x Euro 4 vehicle with a minimum capacity of 16 and maximum length of 9.0m
Would be really nice for Go North East to be awarded with the contract for the 335 service as that would link up the network nicely, and would allow customers to use other Go North East tickets on the 335 service. I'm thinking Phoenix will stand a good chance at getting most/all of them again though.
The current contracts were only ever meant to last six months (24/07/2016 to 18/03/2017) - see original post here.
