Who will be running it?

The North East Bus Preservation Trust (NEBPT). Same as the Metrocentre, Durham and Whitley Bay.

Two attendees are set to be the NNRG's 4710 (FTN 710W) 4855 (R855 PRG).

So we are likely to see the same buses as previous years? No thanks.

The buses which appear at every rally, don't get me wrong, i like seeing old buses etc but its the same every rally then its boring, even with the modern buses.

I would encourage people to head along. It's always a good day out on Bank Holiday weekend, and the weather tends to be spot on too!

Looking at the list of potential attendees, there is some stuff going that hasn't been at the other North East rallies this year (although some attended last year). Quite looking forward to seeing the London & Country Leyland National as that's something I haven't seen before.

It seems the tours will only be every 30 minutes, I am pleased but annoyed by that at the same time as although it means that you should be able to do full tours without missing the next bus, it is a little annoying when you get something you'd rather opt out of riding, it means it's 30 minutes until the next departure, I also fear it means all the tours will be rather busy which although a good thing for the owners, not so fun for the likes of me who hates finding seats next to people.

It looks like Stockton depot have entered one.

I thought 3833 would've been on the list as NEBPT have preserved it.

Cheers. Would like to see some more preserved as they were great buses. Used to love getting the x30 X31 x70 x71 and x43

I'm more familiar with the East Lancs bodied Leyland Atlantean's from Blackpool Transport (albeit not in this livery):

AUP369W? It was at the Metrocentre this year, which I believe was its first appearance out as a completely restored bus. It looks fantastic in the flesh.

I bet it does. Didn't know it had been restored until looking at the list of attendees.

It must be 25 years since the GNE Atlanteans went the journey.
A batch ended up at Weardale if memory serves right. Can remember discovering them when driving over that way in the late 90's. Think they were ECW bodied ones (may be mistaken) in addition to the PTE example/s.

OK had some similar to these. Not sure if one designer got inspiration from another! OK'S were Alexander bodied.

Laat GNE Atlanteans were withdrawn in 2001 / 2002.

Yeah they had a pair of Alexander (3528 / 3530 IIRC) and a pair of ECW (3538 / 3540) Atlanteans. The Alexanders were withdrawn first in 2000. The ECW examples lasted until 2002 because they had extra luggage racks for DFDS services.

Honestly can't remember them being about that long.
I would have thought the Olympians were doing the DFDS stuff by that point.

Managed to find a photo of a re-acquired one kicking about in Sunderland when Park Lane was being re-developed. Again, must have missed this - otherwise I would have tried getting a go of it.

Yeah around 2001 / 2002 the ferry contract was quite large and had 10 buses with extended luggage racks for the service, all of the vehicles were in DFDS livery except for the Atlanteans which were in Coastline colours (with Go Coastline names) and branding for the ferry services.

The list of DFDS vehicles at that time were...
Leyland Atlantean / ECW - 3538 / 3540 (MBR438T / MBR440T)
Leyland Olympian / ECW - 3674 / 3744 (C674LJR / B744GCN)
Volvo Olympian / N-C Palatine 2 - 3832 / 3833 (S832OFT / S833OFT)

IIRC the Atlanteans were replaced when the Volvo Olympian / N-C Palatine 1s (R-LGH) came from London.

Didn't get to see it unfortunately.

Guessing it is one off to Seaburn.

I'm already on my way to Seaburn, waiting for the 7 now which is currently 6 minutes late. Because of terrible connection times in Durham, I won't get there until 11:10 (providing I encounter no problems).

Stockton based MAN ALX300 22016 was the only current Stagecoach vehicle that has attended the rally. It is currently parked next to Former 33101 (R101 KRG).

What a fantastic turnout at Seaburn today. Fantastic show from preservationists and operators again, and the crowds really were out in force. The weather did not let us down either.

The park looked absolutely rammed from standing towards the North West corner, and the shuttle bus queues were literally a decker load at a time.

I only stopped a couple of hours, owing to ill health, but it was the best North East rally that I've attended so far this year.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to attend Seaburn due to me being across the pond in America atm.
Hopefully it was a good event and everyone enjoyed it.
