(12 Oct 2016, 7:24 pm)NK06JXC Thanks for clarifying that.
If I was to preserve one of them Scanias, I would try and purchase one of;
4926, 4934, 4944, 4949, 5219, 5227 or 5230.
(12 Oct 2016, 7:41 pm)NK06JXC 4936 and 5207 are also two Scanias I'd like to preserve.

(12 Oct 2016, 7:33 pm)South Tyne Lad Aye, I agree that there's a lot of Solar's that are nice. But there's some that are pretty bad too haha.
Wouldn't be expecting them to Donate one, But by the time there withdrawn they'll not cost much really considering most will be fit for Scrap by then.
4929,4930,31 and 35 or 4949 are the earlier ones outlined, 5214,20,21 or 30 are the later ones outlined if the purchase of a 49** isn't successful.
The list can change of course

(12 Oct 2016, 7:53 pm)Tom Good luck with it! It will cost loads to maintain them I would think though! How many of you are planning to buy it like? Wouldn't be so bad if there are a few of you splitting the cost I guess.
I'm sure members of the forum including me would hopefully be willing to donate something if you can't raise enough too
(12 Oct 2016, 7:56 pm)NK53 TKT Agreed

You then have the ongoing cost of storage on top of the initial outlay.

(12 Oct 2016, 8:17 pm)South Tyne Lad Id predict they'll be around the same value as the Lolyne's ( Earliest Models ) when they leave, Which was around £5000.

Talk of preserving a 2001 bus...way to feel old.
I find Solars completely characterless, run of the mill uninteresting vehicles.
For better candidates for preservation....but alas, kids today!

If anyone is after the Optare Metrodecker I wouldn't bother as it's currently parked up at the rear of Washington depot.
Also does anyone know if 704 is in service yet?
Hello.
I know A little about bus preservation. Wile not wanting to put anyone off there is A lot of things that you NEED in place before you even get your bus to preserve.
First thing is the cost of your bus. Your looking at around £3,500 for A Y reg Scania L94. That's the book price. The 52 reg ones £9,to 11K.
Next is you need A place to put it. Undercover storage will put you back around £60 to £80 A month. Then you have the restoration budget. For A Scania L94 Wright Solar I would say your looking at around £2000. That will get you the retrim and paint to restore it inside and out.
Then your looking at getting the work done if you cannot do it yourself. The NNRG charge £60 per hour. Others I know charge more.
After you have restored it you need the running costs to pay. Tax £130 for 6 months. MOT £60. Insurance and breakdown £300.
