Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2016

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2016
Whats the official way buses are supposed to come into Newcastle from the Tyne bridge now, alot of them pull off and go up Pilgrim street while others are still using market street (Both are very slow moving with John Dobson street being closed)

This morning the driver I had decided to continue up the A167 and then came off at Great North Road going past Haymarket then into Eldon Square bus station. At the time I thought he had went the wrong way but the way he went it took about 5 minutes to get from the Tyne Bridge to Eldon Square, where as the other 2 routes take about 15minutes.

To me it makes complete sense to go that way, although it does mean he only stopped once in Newcastle at Eldon, but that doesn't at all bother me. The time it takes to get through the city centre its better just to get off and walk.

Are certain services supposed to go one way, and other services another?

I wish the expresses did that all of the time. Or, at least had free reign in and out of the town - stopping at Eldon Square only.

Had a few X1's that have shot straight up John Dobson Street and it seems much quicker than going via Blackett Street and getting stuck at the lights or behind a queue of SNE buses.

You spend more time waiting in front of eldon at the lights as you do actually getting there.

Seen a friend's video on Facebook showing two fire engines attending.

It wasn't on fire, as some have claimed.

There was a quite a bit of steam, but this was due to a burst water pipe. A concerned passenger on-board rang the fire brigade, without informing the driver first.

Yes, it's 6144.

It was at Riverside to have a CCTV system fitted, and it will also be treated to a full valet clean whilst there.

Think the red arrows decker from yesterday was 6003. Was on the A1. With a fitter and a police car was behind it

How many are due? I presume at least 3 to cover rest of DFDS
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2016
Following 6140 home, its top deck lights are going on and off, along with rear destination screen.

Top deck now in darkness...very atmospheric!
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

664 will be 6147.

Brighton & Hove's training fleet is being upgraded. As such, two Scania OmniDekkas will be retained by Brighton & Hove to release two single-decks from their own fleet to the training fleet.

Therefore the transfer of three Scania OmniDekkas is outstanding - not five. They will be numbered as follows:
  • 628 (YN04 GKA) - 6143
  • 664 (YN55 NFC) - 6145
  • 661 (YN55 NFE) - 6146
6145 is arriving today, and the other two will arrive on Sunday.
