Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2017

(23 Nov 2017, 12:11 pm)Dan wrote Yes, painted yesterday in addition to 5201. It had sustained accident damage so repainted ahead of the others in the batch, in line with the impending delivery of the new double-decks for the Angel. Drying off today, should be ready to return to service tomorrow all being well.

6077 painted on Tuesday and branded yesterday. Should be back out in service now.

Are the new DD Streetdeck or B5TLs?

Has there been any changes to the branding for the coaster with it now getting deckers, also what is planned for the omni's?

Hopefully stick to the Coaster name but make it more beachy with a big light house and that

Maybe to upgrade the 11 and to provide spare for Toonlink and the 50?

Edit: I would of preferred the B5H to go on 50 - then enough to cover spares for X1 and 50 with the B7s transferring to chester or Percy Main to get rid of some Presidents.

Omnis could then of been used to upgrade the 11 and few spare to stanley

I think they should send 6 omni's to chester for the 28/28A, I have heard today the others are tied up for the revised South Tyneside network.

I do wonder with the B5's whether 6070 will be retained at Chester for the 21 given it has recently been painted into Nightbus Livery.

I think they might stop at Percy Main for the 11 (8 PVR) and 19 (3? PVR) = 11 +3 spare, Depot Standersation also takes place.

1 to Stanley to replace 5248

The Scania's from the Blue Arrow, can replace older Scania's in the fleet, along with the Eclipses.

(23 Nov 2017, 12:22 pm)RBZ 5459 wrote Think older Versa refurbs kickoff soon after the Mercs are done coinciding with Jarrow changes and cascades, not sure what's been mentioned on that front as I don't keep up with too much on the thread.

It has been suggested on this forum previously that the early Optare Versas would be the most likely to be next in line for refurbishment, but I would be very surprised if it was in the immediate future, especially given that the rumoured service changes in South Tyneside have been alluded to come into effect from early in the new year and the vehicle refurbishment takes between 6 and 8 weeks.

The order for new vehicles for the Angel has now been confirmed representing a massive £4.3 million investment. As well as this, a further £1.6 million was spent on new vehicles for X9/X10 and £1.5 million on new coaches for the National Express fleet. In excess of £7 million has been invested in new vehicles, and that's before we include the refurbishment of a further 28 Mercedes Citaros in the fleet and any other investment which has yet to be confirmed. Any further investment into refurbishment of existing vehicles in the fleet would come at another cost, when Go North East has already been quite spend-happy this year!

The pattern for refurbishment investment has seen 36 Citaros in the 2016/17 financial year and 28 Citaros in the 2017/18 financial year. Logically the next refurbishment would come in the 2018/19 financial year (i.e. from next July onwards).

Hopefully with changes, the South Tyne might get new buses or a full allocation of the same type of the bus

No - they're keeping the current displays.

Will the NSA's for the Coaster (if that is where the B5LH's are going) get done as soon as or will they wait until the ones for the Cobalt Clipper are also done giving that it'll be inevitable to see some odd workings with both routes being deckers?

Confirmed on the photo Dan shared, that the B5LH's are going on the Coaster.

I would imagine, 2 spares has been ordered for the angel too?

Would be better to have 5 long base versas for 28 with some of the south tyne going Quaylink

Only two seats short of the Scanias, the older Versa. But for reliability, yes - the Lambton Worm one's aren't exactly good performers.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2017
I’m wondering if the new double deckers ordered for the Angel service 21, could possibly be Optare Metrodeckers??

I thought this a while back when the Metrodecker was on Demo for such a long period of time and now the fact that Chester le Street depot are starting to standardise their Single decker fleet with Optare Versas.

Just my thoughts that’s all.

Will 5298 be branded before it goes to Hexham?, has the brand changed much?
