GNE have been solidly Wright for a number of years now with the bulk of their orders - chances of them going ADL are slim. I think the Angel would have been the time they made the switch, if they were ever going to, after the many issues with the initial batch of Streetdecks.

Although the Streetdecks have shown some problems on the X21, they should be more than suitable for the 21 given that the B5LH's haven't done too badly on there and are even getting cascaded to the Coaster.

Big difference between the X21 and the 21 is that the 21 is basically a stop start route particularly between Chester-Le-Street and Newcastle whereas the X21 has a section of Motorway / Dual Carriageway to contend with as well as an extra 10-12 mile also with some fast sections of road.

Whether GNE stick with Wrightbus depends on how the B5TLs perform on the X9/X10. If they perform to the same if not a better standard than the B9TLs did on there, then there would be no reason for GNE to switch to ADL whatsoever.

In fact, if GNE and some other operators (First, Arriva) wanted to stick with Wrightbus but weren't happy about the lack of suitable buses for some of the routes, Wrightbus might even offer an 'endurance' version of the StreetDeck / StreetLite with a Cummins 6.7l / ZF combo in addition to the current offerings.

Do Wright even need to bother with that?

At risk of getting away from "GNE Latest", but it seems that Arriva and First are going to ADL for majority of their orders now anyway. Large batches of E200/400MMCs delivered to Arriva this year, and the same for First over the last couple I believe. The E400 already has the Scania variant if companies deem it necessary.

Lothian stick with the Volvo/Wright combination as always - though interesting to see them sticking with the B5TL over the Wright integral even for the type of work they need it for.

Suggestion is that these new ones have an uprated engine, also stop/start feature.

So how much output is the uprated engine then? The original StreetDeck was 231bhp with 900nm @1400rpm.

Could Wrightbus have improved the power output after initial operator feedback?

Having done a few searches it appears they have came off of service 74 (Putney High Street to Baker Street Station), also of note for our Model Bus Collectors of the forum WVL501 "LJ62 KZD" is available in Diecast form also.

I think they are going to Stanley or Riverside, as it was mentioned the other day they'll be going on a branded service.

Which service at Deptford would 3971 turn up on aside from the very early 35A to Heworth?

I think maybe 58 that will allow Versa to go on 35? Or maybe to Stanley allowing the Omnicities to go to Deptford wasn't it rumored that it was getting them. Otherwise seems another mess to simply remove it from from SeeIt DoIt brand

Depends but normally spare bus in the depot after it , other day it was on 61s but ot sounds unhealthy atm i think the 35A has killed it the way it sounded the other day

(08 Dec 2017, 5:43 am)Dan wrote Whilst this would be a good cascade plan and great for customers; the L94s on Loop, Highwayman and Black Cats are tied down to the areas they operate in at the moment, until 2019, as they were fitted with council-funded SCRT systems.

I think Durham were a little happier for the buses they funded with SCRT systems to be cascaded earlier (i.e. those on Fast Cats X35) as they were being replaced by younger, more reliable buses which were still fuel-efficient and Euro 5.

Had Gateshead and Sunderland been equally as happy, I think we'd have seen cascades long before now.

Do they have to be used on a service or can they be used as spares?

This batch were actually recently displaced from Go-Ahead London's fleet in line with the contract for service 22 (Putney Common - Oxford Circus) being retained by London General with a new allocation of 22 Hybrid double-deck vehicles (a mixture of new Volvo B5LH/MCV EvoSeti plus existing examples already in the fleet), from 21st October 2017.

Dan has confirmed on his photo of 5327 - which is at Blackburn Bus and Coach World, that 5326-5336 are for the 9, confirming, that the service will be every 20 minutes.

5325/5337/5338 as spares for Deptford, with 5324 going to Riverside? (4 spares each)
---

He has also confirmed that the 13 Gemini's 2 from London will refurbished like this:

The entire batch will undergo exterior repaint, centre door conversion, fitment of an entrance door ramp, seats re-trimmed including extra padding, seat legs, hand grabs and hand poles repainted, buggy bay created, with free customer Wi-Fi and new white LED destination displays also fitted.

Mechanically, this entire batch of buses have been fitted with a new Ecolife campaigned gearbox.

Wonder if this confirms they'll go on the Toonlink services 6 and X70/X71?, allowing the Omnicities to just go on the X30/X31?

5234 - 5241 on the X30/X31
5249, 5250 as spares.

5253 moves from Stanley

5234 - 5241 on the X30/X31
5249, 5250 as spares.

5253 moves from Stanley

PVR of services X30/X31 before May was only 6 (5239-42, 5250 & 5253).

With this in mind, there would be 5 Omnicitys left over, these could be used on the other Toon Link services with only enough B9TLs to replace the Omnidekkas joining the brand?

So they go on the 6/X70/X71, leaving 5234-39 on the X30/X31?

Then, including the ones at Percy Main, there is 5240-42, 5250-5254, and 5261-74 Omnicities to allocate, which is 22. I would like to say Blue Arrow and 35, with a couple going to Washington for the 5/50. However, I don't know if they would want to have Omnicities at Deptford? Only other way around it would be to allocate Solars to the 35, under the Black Cats brand, but that is a massive downgrade.

Thanks for the update.

Quick question for 26/27 will GNE Desination Boards change back with via points?

For people who don't know about the changes/without internet?

Will brand for crusader change?

Looks like it'll be Scania's as they have to be in Sunderland until 2019 due to the modifications they got....... they'll need to brand one more Scania, as the PVR is 8 and there's only 7 branded.

They're just testing them at the minute for feedback, no idea how long it'll go on for, i doubt the brand will change, they've just branded the Citaro's, likely only to change the route description on side of the buses.

Ah, so the Solars are allocated to the 61? I was under the impression they were on the 39 haha. I thought they would need some transfers.

I that's the case I would guess the Omnicities will just stay at Percy Main (11/19) and a couple to Washington.
