22341 and 27735 are both currently parked at the back of Sunderland depot. Presumably will both be there for repaint?

I'm surprised this wasn't used as an opportunity to give it an internal mid-life refurbishment? Don't profess to travel on these Hybrids all too often, but if it's anything like the similarly-aged diesel Enviro400s, they won't be in the best condition internally!

Guessing they possibly missed the whole roof? I noticed parts of the 'pod' on the gas buses have been left blue too.

If you look at the roofs of Wheatsheaf's repaints, they very rarely paint them. SC Health and Safety rules group wide mean they aren't allowed to paint the roofs unless they have correct safety harness etc. Wheatsheaf being one of those paintshops without such, and with no painting gantry. Surprised they've not done that front lip of the dome though, unless it's left for quirkiness. I guess the same paint principle will go with the reverse of the Gas bus pod panels.

Some depots do paint the roof one colour, normally white, as painters do not need to be physically on the roof, in contrast to painting stripes from corporate swoops. The North East ALX300s always stand out in memory, freshly painted but with a scabby roof. Same with the Metrocentre E300s, they still have original swoops on the roof from when they were new and they've gone through a few swoop variations over the years: https://flic.kr/p/C89HDM

I remember when they had to repaint the whole fleet back in 2002 (i think) and remember distinctly the ALX300's still had a stripy roof whilst the rest of the bus was in the new livery,so i see your point of scabby roof's,as internal refurbs, probably wont happen,i was on 19217 today and its a mess,it was actually leaking upstairs, and you can see where they've attempted to re-seal it with black silicone, looks awful

Kind Regards

There's a few with black silicone on the upper deck between the floor and the bottom of the blind box at the front to stop leaking water going down between the decks. Quality products..!

Hi Dan. Wrong operator but same topic. GNE 5251 still has an odd looking Coaster Blue pod on its nice new fleet livery repaint.

19203 & the leather seaters 194 196 197 at Slatyford in contrast are Imaculate IMO for over 10 year old. The thing with the Hybrids is that they will keep that horrendus interior colour

Unsure if the one you're referring to was replaced - I went out to get a photograph of the 18:40 Megabus from Newcastle off the back of your post, and was disappointed to see it was 54221. Maybe next time!

Out of interest, does anyone know what happens when the LHD coaches are allocated to Megabus work in areas where it wouldn't really be safe to board from the main doors? Is the door in the middle of the coach on the other side used for boarding instead? Could probably get away with using the main doors in Park Lane Interchange for example, but you'd have to go into the road in Newcastle.

Could always pull up into the coach bay on the opposite side of the road in Newcastle therefore ensuring passenger safety.

Was removed well over a year ago. I know it's been defected by drivers in the past, but still it misses one.

Assume it was defective, and never put back on when/if it went away for repair. Probably in a Trident now.

Service E1 is currently operating via Lizard Lane due to stuck cars on Redwell Lane bank.

A Service E2 (ADL E300) towards South Shields slid and bounced off the Marsden Inn roundabout, and carried on.

I feel sorry for all of the bus drivers. Driving in these weather conditions must be so stressful.

All Sunderland Services Cancelled:

Sun ops Due to the current dangerous road conditions, all Sunderland services will be terminating and returning to the depot. Road conditions will be assessed and if conditions improve services will resume. Apologies from the Sunderland team and keep checking twitter for updates
