Pleased about this acquisition. Will need to have myself a day in the Hull area in the coming months to get a better experience of their network.

Aye. Was definitely East Yorkshire around Hull in the late 80s. Our village was served by them and by Connor and Graham.

And on that note, I've found this nice bit of potted history.

Nice link that.

It's opened up another query though.
Which small operator in the NE got the two VR's?

Even then these EYMS buses did not all go to the scrap yard, as both 517 and 995 were bought by a small operator in the north-east for further service. 517 is now preserved and was at EYMS’s 80th anniversary celebration at the Hull Streetlife Museum of Transport.

I think it's inevitable there will be changes in the future, not just with liveries and 'names', but routes and depots.
Virgins deal with CYBG included a lot of clauses, some of which are in the public domain and place time constraints on use of buildings, staff redundancies etc.
Stanley agreed certain things when they were bought out too. Hence the lack of competing services for a number of years.

Being honest, I think we will see depot closures, route consolidation, fleet disposals, staff reductions and deals with other operators. Scarbrough operated by Transdev maybe?
I will predict this all happening in 3-5 years time, depending on the terms agreed in the contract.

Why would they want to get rid of Scarborough to Transdev?

May as well give it back to Arriva/United.

Allocations from 20th June have been posted on the EYMS website: https://www.eyms.co.uk/enthusiasts/enthu...em?id=1509

- In addition to 308/309/314 as previously posted, 593 and 596 have been sold
- 584 and 585 have been reinstated at Scarborough (possibly only temporary to help out on Park & Ride with the upcoming Armed Forces Weekend on 30th June)
- 678, 783 and 785 all repainted into the revised East Yorkshire fleet livery

I've no idea who they would get rid of it to or if they would do so, was just a suggestion about how GNE might consolidate and rationalise things to reduce costs.

EYMS have to their own admission 'found things difficult' and whilst there will be money to be made, there's bound to be savings to be made too.
They have closed a depot or two over the last few years.

Scarbrough isn't amongst the core EYMS network and has recently seen changes in services around the town. To me anyway, it seems ripe for sale.

I'm not suggesting that the Scarborough operations earn quite a bit, but I can imagine that it is with Hull (and possibly even Bridlington) in the depots that would be kept hold of.

The Park and Ride is quite popular (not sure how much revenue is kept by the company though), as are the summer 13, 109 (even with the competition from Shoreline Suncruisers) and Scarborough Skipper services. It does mean that there are a number of buses sitting around over the winter months doing nothing, but EYMS get around that by either transferring them to their coaching fleet or delicensing them until required the next year.

Managed to get a list sent through myself this afternoon. It seems 790 and 791 no longer have Wi-Fi but coach 94 now does.

361 - 366 and 739 - 746 all have "media screens" - I assume this is a Next Stop Announcement system, if anyone can confirm?

Not sure how up to date it is, but fleet list includes previous owners for some of the vehicles.

May help build up background info on NEB fleet lists

On a similar note, the above link provides information on all vehicles that have passed through the company and includes who they we new to and who they were sold to afterwards.

It also shows EYMS' tendency to reuse fleet numbers, something which Go North East avoids doing. Perhaps the fleet numbering scheme will be changed to match GNE preferences?

This made me chuckle. The next stop announcement system at EYMS or S&D as most of these vehicles are based is basically the driver shouting the stop out he has been requested to.

On the couple of these buses that the screens work all they show is the cctv camera sequence.

Scarborough's B5TLs 804-6, as well as Pocklington's 808, have now lost their 121 branding following the split at Bridlington. B9TL/E400 722-6 have had their '120/X20' branding slightly amended, with the 120/X20 removed but the 'Scarborough Filey Bridlington' destinations retained.

Also of note, B7TL Open Topper 886 has 'East Yorkshire' logos with branding for Bridlington Open Top service 100.

As a Matter of interest, the remaining 121 branded vehicles have lost the 'Filey - Scarborough' wording from the branding.

Have heard that both East Yorkshire and Scarborough & District were transferred to GNE. Scarborough & District has been dormant for some time, is it still dormant, or will it be revived (for a possible sell-off?)

Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 780 has received a promotional livery to show contactless payments being accepted on East Yorkshire's buses.

It will be returned to Hull tomorrow, in exchange for similiar 777, which will be repainted at GNE's Saltmeadows Road facility and branded likewise.

Arrived back in Scarborough around 11:30. It should have been 761 that went North but not sure if it was changed for 777.

Not sure about 761...

Had been planned to repaint 790 afterwards, but East Yorkshire decided yesterday that they wanted to paint 777 instead.

That explains why YX14HDZ has turned up at Saltmeadows for a repaint, it was the vehicle painted in Park and Ride livery for Bridlington, though oddly it was displaying Scarborough and District fleetnames which it wasn't carrying when I photoed it last Summer.

Like Whitby, Bridlington’s Park and Ride is only seasonal.

It appears that after the service finished at the end of October, it was debranded and transferred to Scarborough (via the Body Shop at Hull), possibly to help out while Park and Ride Centros 363-366 were repainted.

Hull tour cancelled and bus transferring to Scarborough to make skipper every 30 minutes.

Bridlington P&R was won by stagecoach back in December on a 5 year contract. 385 was repainted white and Transfered to Scarborough. Scarborough Borough Council were going to rebrand the P&R, that's why everything is white.
