Just heard on the radio . Go north east are upping the limit ( for a trial period) of con tactless payment up to £30 for £10. They are also reducing some weekly tickets by £5 to £30 so these can be bought on the bust using con tactless. Now that's a good idea

The app is correct though, just the LDs haven't updated the recycled ticket machine.
It also said later on last night 6150 was on 21. Could this be a mistake too?

Details of the January 'sale'.
I think it brings them down to the same level (or at least similar) to the fares, prior to last Januarys price increases.

Managed a short ride on the ADL demo (9081) earlier. Really good ride quality and it doesn't half shift. Shame it expired at the Galleries on Newcastle bound trip, and after 3x failed full resets, we were all chucked off.

cant complain if their reducing the price of a ticket even if it is just a short term promotion

Had a look in the pricing thread and copied the information over that Adrian shared at the time.

1 Zone Week - Rises from £21.00 to £23.00 (9.52%)
2 Zone Week - Rises from £27.00 to £30.00 (11.1%)
3+ Zone Week - Rises from £34.00 to £35.00 (2.94%)

Sale prices.
1 zone weekly – £20 (usually £23)
2 zone weekly – £25 (usually £30)
3 zone+ weekly – £30 (usually £35)

So actually lower than before the quoted price increase.
Just wish these reductions were a permanent fixture!

Definitely a step in the right direction.

On aptyldsley's photo of 5201, he has mentioned that 5201 is expected to be withdrawn early in the new year.

Go North East 5201 NK54 NUU
The first of the penultimate batch of Wright Solar bodied Scania L94 to be purchased by Go North East, 5201 is expected to be withdrawn early in the new year.

Wonder whats replacing it?

edit:

Wonder if 4944 will be withdrawn too?

It's a Euro 4 example from checking the fleet list, so it did not get the Euro 5 mods.

It will be one of 6 which remain in active service to be withdrawn, the others being 4944, 5229, 5230, 5231 and 5232, the other Euro 4's have either been withdrawn already or are driver trainers.

And 5201 was not the first of the penultimate batch to be withdrawn either, 5203 was way back in January of this year.

I think you may have misunderstood. Numerically, it was the first Solar to be bought in that batch, rather than withdrawn.

The first of the penultimate batch to be purchased Andrew says - not withdraw.

Worth a mention that this weekend will be the final time to catch the ADL demo in service.

On paper currently planned to be taken out of service on Monday, to allow time for the bus to be decommissioned, prior to return to ADL on Wednesday 2nd January.

Me too but going by past experiences with the X21 StreetDecks and the B5TLs on the X9/X10, unless there has been a change of heart, then I feel it will come down to the following:

* Fuel Economy
* Commonality (Modern fleet mostly Wright bodied with some Optare in the mix)
* Purchase cost

Hopefully, Go-Ahead management have learnt from the X21 / X9 / X10 and this time around, allow the purchase of a more suitable vehicle type.

Developed a fault with the ramp handle, so was replaced at Washington Galleries just before 2pm.

This will be repaired at some point tomorrow, so it's potentially not going to be out again now.

But Arriva and Stagecoach operate quite a number of these already, why would they need a demonstrator?

They could either use it at Ashington to compare with the Voith gearbox examples on the X21/X22 or maybe even Blyth on the X10/X11.

Need to add reliability to the list of things considered as part of the evaluation of new buses - although Go North East have no experience of ADL double deck products in recent years, other parts of Go Ahead do.

Looks like the damage could be limited to the roof and front (at the top).

Wonder why the bus went that way?

Hoping 2019 gives us some interesting movements (not just with GNE but Stagecoach and Arriva too), this year has been pretty dull and nothing interesting happening.
