Could work hopefully would mean new buses too.......

(27 Feb 2019, 5:51 pm)AIG20 wrote Stagecoach are planning on moving services E1, E2, E6 & X34 to Sunderland Depot, as per below article:

It would be great to have Gas Buses on the E's & double decker's on the X24.

Would be nice for the E's to get new gas buses and the X24/X34 to get newer buses.

I wonder if we might see a order in the new financial year for Sunderland depot now then? Maybe an order for Sunderland's existing routes allowing some of the gas buses to transfer to the E's releasing the current E300s to Slatyford/Stockton

Are the loadings on the X24 and on the X34 sufficiently similar that the same type of vehicle can be allocated to both?

From the outside looking in, it looks like they're trying to make Sunderland depot more sustainable. Possibly at the expense of Shields.

The article states some services I clouding the E1 E2 E6 and X34 may transfer to Sunderland. So possibly others and not just those mentioned.

The spokesperson also states that they are looking at the possibility of transferring to other depots (possibly not just Sunderland)

Remember Gp North East closed South Shields depot back in 2003 and it has taken them a good 10 years plus to get settled in with services being operated out of Sunderland Washington and Gateshead instead. So it is highly likely many Stagecoach services could go the same way.

Has Sunderland had its Number of Vehicles based at Sunderland increased with the traffic commissioner yet.  How many are they currently Licenced for and how many will the 20 or so extra take them to.

20 to transfer E- has 15 of 27726-27740 and X34 has 4 of 19641-19644

Its always out in service, same as 22026 the previous 'route learner' was.

I think its more likely some of Stockton's E300s will move north when they get their 18 new ones as they don't have 18 buses old enough to withdraw.

I think Wheatsheaf would have the capacity to take all of the South Shields operations, there is also the potential to merge some of the services opening up various cross-city links from North Sunderland from the likes of Southwick and Town End Farm through Boldon or Jarrow into South Shields or from Seaburn through Cleadon into South Shields. You could also extend other services such as the 30 & X20 to Newcastle.

It would massively strengthen Stagecoach's operations across Tyne & Wear giving Go North East some more competition in the process.

I would have to also agree, that they could merge a few services together, making more cross-city services.... hopefully starting with the Sunderland 18.

They could also send the 3 and 4 from Downhill over the bank to Boldon and maybe to South Shields replacing the 3 and 4 from Biddick Hall.

There is many examples so I only listed a few, could merge the E's with the short 16's and the 20 but then that would be a reliability nightmare.
