Both of these operators ran along that route at various times. Northern certainly did run an open topper (route no. 333 at the time); I don't think Northumbria did.

Charles

I hope so. When does the new South Shields Interchange open?

I expect the same bus services will serve the new interchange as serve the current bus station.

Need to move this to appropriate thread.

But they both ran open top at same time.

Northern had service 332 operated by Atlantean 3285

Northumbria had service 333 operated by VR 555

Nkrthern then also introduced service 400 jointly with Northumbria but Northern used Routemaster 2099 on a once a month outing on what was classed as tourist route.

Not confirmed but with rumours of South Shields moving the E services to Sunderland and the X34 to either Sunderland or Walkergate...could mean new buses for the E services.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

E400MMCs are allocated to 62/63 as normal, but Slatyford also put theirs also on Fastlines, 10/11 and 30/31/36 occasionally when E200MMCs have been allocated elsewhere.

The E200MMCs and ex-Shields E200 also see use on 71/72/87s on a Sunday.

There is one of the older 400's on the 1 today, its past my work several times and there is something serious wrong with it.

Best way to describe the engine, it sounds like someone has fitted a turbo to the engine, each gear change is giving out a very loud air sound. Never heard anything like it before, I assumed it was some idiot in a modified car, but just looked out to see a bus!

19442, it was extremely loud when pulling away from Central Station earlier today.

It's always been a bit of a dog 19442, it's been crying out for a repaint for an age too - what must be the final E400 not repainted since the Megabus stickers were removed from the rear 'swoop'.

Looks as though 10631, 10640, 10653 and 10654 (and possibly 10635) have gone for a little holiday in the Deep South, helping out at the Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival.

They had three of them last year, when they were even newer and shinier!

I must admit that, in contrast to previous years when there's been quite mix of vehicles used, and quite often quite few older ones, this year has seen pretty much E400s and E400MMCs across the board, with a very small handful of Tridents, most of which were dragged out of the Spares Dump at the back of Stroud.

Wasn't that when a couple of them had a windscreen smashed.

10635 now confirmed as also being at Cheltenham, although on the day I made my observations it was lurking at the very back of Cheltenham garage suffering from some radiator problems, and was therefore not identifiable at the time.
