Hopefully if GNE go on to secure this service for a number of years they may invest in Streetdeck open top like those in Edinburgh........or perhaps this is one of the 33 DD on order.....with the 6000 being back up......specially if Newcastle planning low emission zone in city centre

Where will the Go North East one go, Newcastle and Gateshead?, as i heard that once wasn't running this year.

What website? The Official City Sightseeing site has nothing listed for 2019 (and until a few weeks ago, was still showing the 2018 details)

Just Googled it and I get a page on the City Sightseeing website showing the Gateshead Newcastle tour but its only showing some of the sights, if you go onto the all destinations part of the CSS website Gateshead Newcastle is not there so must have come to an end.

Also looked on that Newcastle Gateshead site and dates & times were shown to only be provisional.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2019
If GNE were operating it wouldn't City Sightseeing have specified their livery must be applied? I can't recall ever seeing City Sightseeing operating in other cities in the operator's own livery.

I presumed GNEs open top was just for corporate events, private hire etc?
Has anyone captured it out of Saltmeadows depot?

Glad you like them.

In the midst of everything else going on at the moment, not every service has been updated, but all being well they should be done by mid-May.

Via points are only shown on the "full length" of the route, with a few exceptions where another location on the route is just as regular a terminus point (i.e. Gateshead/Wrekenton on the 1, Chester-le-Street/Newcastle on the 21). The large displays are still used for "part route" services.

The end result won't be to everyone's tastes, just as the last version wasn't either (indeed for every person that preferred the larger display only showing terminal point, there was one or two who hated it!) but it aims to compromise on the larger display by having a bolder font for the terminus whilst retaining the bold Arial route number which has been used by Go North East for around five years now.

(07 Apr 2019, 6:28 pm)Dans_bus_photos wrote Has there been any other fleet movements this weekend apart from the ex-Stanley onmicities to Riverside/Saltmeadows and 5481-85 to Consett?

Nothing else other than the movements already established - there haven't been any other changes to allow for any other movements, really.

5234-37 have been allocated to Saltmeadows for their Nexus Miscellaneous Works contracts, 5238 to Riverside for the same purpose. They have had their Wi-Fi units removed, re-fitted to 5481-85.

5481-85 have transferred to Consett in lieu, to be allocated to service X30, and to act as spare vehicles for other single-deck services at Consett.

5239-42 and 5249-53 have all transferred to Riverside, to be allocated to services 6 and X31*
*Note that 5242 is VOR and awaiting transfer (so is technically the only OmniCity other than the spares donor to make the trip to Hownsgill), but will transfer across in due course once repaired.

Thanks, im assuming that there must be plans in the future to repaint the Toon Link branded ones? Otherwise seems strange to send the branded ones to Saltmeadows when there isn't enough at Riverside to cover the full PVR.

I'm guessing that 5234 to 5238 will be repainted into corporate livery with 5249 possibly be repainted into Toon Link livery.

Just of curiosity which boards do 5234 to 5238 operate, I know there is a couple of 92's which they do.

What will replace 681/89/90 at Deptford?, and when will they transfer to Washington?

I have suspicions there maybe some more service changes coming as it's been a while since there has been some for the Washington Area with possibly a few minor ones for the Sunderland Network.

There's a couple of things in the pipeline for Toon Link, yes.

There are no plans to repaint 5234-38 at this stage; they will be allocated to the Miscellaneous Works contracts in "Toon Link" branding for now, although may be stripped of vinyls in future depending on how badly the bodywork will be affected by the removal of these vinyls. Nexus have invited operators to tender for the Miscellaneous Works contracts due to commence in September 2019, so the current contracts which 5234-38 will be allocated to might not necessarily be retained this year.

They'll transfer to Washington next month.

I don't think it's yet public knowledge as to what will replace them at Deptford, although I have seen plenty of speculation!

I would think all toon link Omnicities will be painted into corporate livery (same as whey aye 5/50), seen as the X30 (and some X31/X32) will be corporate merc operated, whilst some riverside operated X30s remain Toon Link. I think only the X70/X71/X72 will remains Toon Link branded.

It might be a little bit more than just some minor changes. Not sure when they'll announce them though.

Sunderland and minor-changes don't tend to go hand in hand! Wink

36 has seen the Versa's lose their branding.
35 are to lose Solars in this financial year.
North Sunderland being the hot bed of seemingly super frequent changes.

I wonder Huh

When were the last major changes in North Sunderland..? Go North East have had a pretty stable network for quite some time now, especially when compared to Stagecoach in the same area...  Huh

Do they really need five life-expired Volvo B7RLEs?
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2019
When the Bluestars Citaros came on board, wasn't it said they wouldn't see public service much hence the lack of any attention apart from repaints.

Can't help but feel that these buses on the X30 are a short term measure, as it makes no sense to swap them over at the moment - obviously there is some sort of thinking behind it that isn't public knowledge, but from a customer point of view, seems strange.

They've seen an increasing amount of use at Riverside and Washington on normal service work anyway.

They aren't too shabby inside, and are actually better from a passenger point of view than the OmniCitys they're replacing (fitted with USB sockets, bit more legroom, 2+1 seating, etc).

Better not touch North Sunderland, or change the 36, i rely on that for work alongside the 8.

Confirms nothing - I'm just commenting on the lack of any major changes for quite some time now. There's been a pretty stable network over the last year or two, changes few and far between.

Arriva and Stagecoach in the meantime have had quite a few major changes (some admittedly have been improvements) - just look at the 12 in Sunderland being re-routed to compete with the Go North East 56, then reverted back to its original route some three to six months later...

Omnicities are terrible for rattles, hopefully these Mercs won’t be as bad.
