I understand that they only want to be become a daytime service provider, based around the Park & Ride service.
DCC have told me which services that they want to give up to become the leaner operator, however I’m not allowed to divulge.

SB had the 58 removed because they had driver shortages and have had a lack of serviceable buses, over the past few months.
They asked DCC to find another operator, according to DCC Arriva have been after the 58 for quite a while.

Wonder if they don't have the funds to replace a considerable amount of the fleet as some of the Solo's are about to be over the 15 year age limit on DCC contracts (think there's 6 that need to be replaced in 2020 then 7* in 2021 plus MX56NME in 2022), it's a canny lot to replace in one go which won't be cheap.

* 3 pink Solos for 16 & S1 discounted from equation due to not needing to meet age restrictions.
RE: Scarlet Band Motors
They are being very presumptuous assuming they are going to win the park and ride back given its a tendered service. I think it's up for renewal soon unless scarlet band have won it already. be surprised as the service is a shambles under them. Buses are tatty and poor For their age, many of the drivers have no customer service skills and the service is now totally unreliable. About time for someone else to run it.

I'm almost certain that the Durham P&R contract was for 5 years, plus a 2 year extension. It started on 27th October 2014, so might not be up for renewal till October 2021.

Yes it’s the replacement for the faster 58 extra bus that used start at Station Town for the college service.
SB will run it until Arriva have the capacity.

I wonder how many people will try and board with a GNE ticket, even though they've removed all GNE logos.

Shouldn't happen really although in this instance the odds may increase as a result of the bus displaying the wrong destination although I think this journey does actually run via Langley Park, it's actually the 52 to East Hedleyhope.

WK59CWU (former 710) was on the 52/725 on Friday.

Wow. That looks awful.

Are SB struggling for buses at the moment?

SB need to replace 7 buses to keep within the DCC age limit.
To make it easier the 58 was transferred to Arriva a month earlier than was anticipated.

You seen the state of the X1 B9's? Awful.
Ditto the 128 I saw in Helmsley earlier. Caked in muck and not too dissimilar to these SB Solos.
