RE: Gateshead Central Taxis
I like the new MMC200 on the 42A. I haven't been on it yet, but it looks smart.

Appreciate the 37 doesn't pick up or drop off many at Biddick Woods, but if it's part of the route, then serve it.
(31 Mar 2020, 3:39 pm)Dan wrote Also worth noting that the evening/Sunday service in North Tyneside, awarded to GCT from 23 March, is now being operated by Go North East again under contract to Nexus.

(31 Mar 2020, 5:21 pm)Tom wrote I would assume so because this document says they are 'suspended' - https://www.nexus.org.uk/sites/default/f...032020.pdf - suggests GCT will run them again at some point or another.

How will bus patronage ever pick up if services can't follow a set route simply because the driver CBA!

They seem to of won lots of contracts lately... bit of a back hander involved

(04 May 2020, 8:15 pm)Adrian wrote Yep, unfortunately so. Dan posted originally in the tender discussion thread about the scoring matrix. 90% cost, 7% Euro 6 or better and a mere 3% for quality iirc.
The scoring matrix is what is wrong with the procurement process, not that GCT have ended up winning a load of work. It is creating a race to the bottom, which larger companies will find difficult to compete in. Low cost units were brought in to try and compete in this market, but seems that even they appear to be struggling now.

(04 May 2020, 8:40 pm)Michael wrote Will the Sunderland smart zone passes be accepted?
(04 May 2020, 8:48 pm)Dan wrote Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have thought so (the SmartZone is a joint ticket between Arriva, Go North East and Stagecoach). It may be that when the operators enter discussions with Nexus regarding ticket acceptance that SmartZone tickets are also accepted however.
For the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic however, Nexus have agreed to accept any tickets on their secured services (reflecting the arrangement NEbus partners have made to do the same on their own services).
