Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
(26 Sep 2020, 8:52 am)idiot wrote The 18 hasn't been the same since the Queen Alex Bridge closure years ago in my opinion.
Stagecoach killed the service off when it took on the roll of service 6 route and also killed it off many years ago when there axed the evenings and Sundays services which forced customers to change into the town centre for onward travel

(25 Sep 2020, 10:09 pm)ASX_Terranova wrote Could we see it withdrawn completely in the future with other services amanded to cover certain sections. Seems like its heading that way.Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they withdrew the 18. Stagecoach have a tendency to withdraw these kind of 'round the houses' routes. It's a shame if it goes like the 5/ 5A. They both provided local links and not just into town and back. The 18 is a shadow of it's former glory now.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
The old PTE service 121/122 was a service I used frequently as a kid. Tunstall Rd terminus to Seaburn via the Town. These were replaced in 1983 by 118/119.

Apart from swapping the southern termini of the 4/23 and renumbering 23 to 22 they have basically introduced the April changes - which were otherwise just the frequency cuts iirc.

(26 Sep 2020, 6:44 pm)Acky81 wrote No changes have taken place yet to my knowledge
Although, not official, I would say that the current frequency times, may end up being the the permeant times for the future...
3 - every 12 minutes on full route (now running both Gilley Law and Farringdon instead of split)
4 - every 12 minutes
8 - same as pre-covid
10/11 - same as pre-covid
12 - every 12 minutes
13 - every 30 minutes
16 - every 12 minutes
18 - Hourly but the timetable, ripped apart (close to be withdrawn)
20 - every 10 minutes
23 - every 12 minutes
E1/E2/E6 - same as pre-covid
X24/X34 - same as pre-covid
Although surprised to see the 13 every 30 minutes still.
Saturday timetables are still really reduced.. with the 23 for example being only every 30 minutes instead of every 12 minutes.

(26 Sep 2020, 10:27 am)idiot wrote That is also true. Was essentially a lot of oaps used it on the evening and Sundays to.It connected a lot of people to Asda from the likes of Grindon and Thorney Close etc. It was a well used service for estates where not everyone owns a car but wanted to do some shopping at a larger store. Why Stagecoach couldn’t see that continues to baffle me.
Especially airshow weekend

(27 Sep 2020, 10:36 am)Acky81 wrote Why would the 13 be every 30 minutes?
That's what the frequency is at the minute.
My post was just a list of the current frequencies and my predication of them staying the same for a while or even permanent, after this pandemic is over.... although, remember those dupe buses Stagecoach promised, haven't seen one at all on the 16 or 23....

Service 12 and 13 are currently on a combined 12 minute frequency with 3x 12s and 2x 13s per hour.

Except on a Saturday when for some reason both services run every 20 mins - giving a combined 10 mins frequency. No idea why 12/13 need increased capacity on Saturdays, when the rest of the operation is scaled back compared to Mon-Fri.

Much less confusing to the passengers and it already happens on Saturdays. Strange not to have them for weekdays as well. The 12/ 13 are quite well used as well.

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/nor...le-1585189 - There's an article on it there, seems to be scrapped when the Quaylink came into existance.
There's a network map of Stagecoach in 2005 before it went aswell which has it on, pretty much the Q3 nowadays even known there was a gap of about 10 year where it didn't exist. Bit off topic but it's quite impressive how similar the network is today.
