(23 Dec 2021, 12:22 am)Keeiajs wrote I have been trying to get on it for a while, however it has already been on 680's which aren't exactly the easiest to plan out when they are every 2 hours. And rarely on the X84/85 (before two got taken off).

I still need to get on 6337/6334 (as it has been of since mid Nov) and 6377 (which hopefully I can do a full Newcaslte - West Aukland on that before Jan, and maybe get a omnidekka or 6335).

I used it regularly back when I used the X30, if I saw it on the tracker, I would always wait for it.

I would honestly advise against doing the full X21 to West Auckland, either get off at the retail park or if you really must go to West Auckland, get off in the village, as there's sod all where it terminates. Unless you fancy waiting half an hour at a bus stop, or spending 10 minutes walking back on yourself into the village!

Yeh that is where I would get off, at the Retail Park.

5253 is back....I think (probs just the ticket machine)

So I was going through the 'Fleet List' on GNE website and there are 3:

6997 LJ51 DJZ Not in Service DAF DB250 Plaxton President 69 2001 20.3 (Age) 6 (Euro) The Original Tour
6998 LJ51 DKF Not in Service DAF DB250 Plaxton President 69 2001 20.3 (Age) 6 (Euro) The Original Tour
6999 LJ51 DKV Not in Service DAF DB250 Plaxton President 69 2001 20.3 (Age) 6 (Euro) The Original Tour

Also why not pain the President’s in the X22 Livery (whcih I think many would prefer) as they are Euro 5, whereas the G1's are Euro 4, with the 57' OmniDekka's.

Surprised nobody identified two of the B9TL ex Lothian for X22, more life in them than 3941/2

Think these are replacing 3997/8/9 for Toontour

I'm guessing it's because of the ULEZ even known they don't directly go in. Sure one interworks with the X1A and another interworks with the Team Valley peaks.

Seems a bit of waste upgrading a B7 to E6.

They aren't going to be able to interwork in July.

Also if vehicles coming to Newcastle from Gateshead are Euro 5, do yu think they will just send all the passengers to Gateshead from Newcastle and just run it from Gatshead.

Has 6341-51 had their tables & wireless chargers done yet?I know the tables are a planned upgrade but didn't ADL forget to include seatback wireless charging?

I was on one of them (not sure which one) a week or two back and it now had the wireless chargers in the backs of the seats. Can't say whether they were working or not as my new phone unfortunately lacks wireless charging

I would imagine some of the boards including the scholars will get swapped around before it comes into play so only E6 stuff goes into Newcastle.

My comment pertains to age rather than anything else, the B9 will have more years in them and are a a better vehicle.

The DAF DB250 open toppers were upgraded to Euro 6 whilst they were in London. Speaking of said vehicles, 6999 (LJ51DKV) is parked up inside Percy Main depot still in the Original Tour colours, whilst another is parked around the back of Deptford depot.

Given how much emphasis is put on people using the app to check when their bus is due, wouldn't you think that they would make sure that they always tracked?

Oh I agree. I was at Heworth, waiting to go to Middlesbrough and I was like I am going to have to wait 30 mins, the bus will be rammed...then it came. But some people who were tracking it left as it was 5 mins late.

Its not so bad say it was on the 20 as that is every 12 well now 15. But on a every 60 mins service...especially for weeks aswell.

Given that the ex-Oxford coaches are said to be unreliable and due for withdrawal, I have the feeling the E400-MMCs from routes X84/85 will move to routes X9/10 (although route X9 is of course suspended).

Already confirmed the E400's will go on the X10, (2 in for repaint already) with the X9 withdrawn, meaning the X10 will additionally run via Peterlee and Billingham, every hour (its night/Sunday route).

It's good news for the X10, definitely. A massive downgrade for the X84/85 after little over a year though. Versas are good buses though and I believe the X84/85 are being withdrawn next month anyway with the old 684 route between Hexham and Ovingham coming back and no service to Denton Burn, Fenham and Newcastle.

Afaik It isn't in the service changes which are happening 4th January.

So what does the future old for the Hexham expresses/684? Personally I think it's ridiculous making permanent changes during a global pandemic, and temporarily reducing the frequency of existing services would be more sensible. The X85 being introduced on evenings and Sundays is perfect for me, but I rarely go out in the current situation. Likewise the 24 Hour ticket and Flexi 5 and other ticket options (including the £1 evening fare) are great but I'm not in a position to utilise them (I have utilised the summer discounted fares to go to Hexham and recently used a Newcastle and North Tyneside saver after eventually getting it on the Q3 as I couldn't get it on the 74!).

Absolutely love the X85 and 42A routes and the 74 route is nice and rural too. Unfortunately we are not living in normal times and supporting GNE services is therefore difficult. Hope the routes continue through Denton Burn and Fenham into Newcastle.

Thanks, in fact just after I posted this I saw the thread about E400s for route X10.

As my coach ride was on route X9 to Peterlee I am relieved that Peterlee will still be served albeit by route X10 instead.

On bustimes, it doesn't look like anymore Streetlites have gone over and 5260/1/2 are still in service at Washington. Interestingly, 5245/47/56 haven't tracked since November. Perhaps they're keeping 8 at Riverside which will be displaced by the Yutong's, while those I just mentioned and the three left at Washington will be withdrawn. Could see 5419 and 6304-7 heading to Washington with 5409-12 kept as spares for Country Ranger?

I was behind 5441 going into Follingsby this afternoon on the 4. That one had been at Chester last week so I wonder if that'll be a permanent transfer or just temporary.
