And probs about the same from CLS aswell
And also don't forget, if people actually did that journey with any regularity, the X22 would still be about!

If I lived in Chester or Durham, I'd try and time myself to get X21 knowing that it's a lot quicker...

Could just get the train 30 mins, £8.50 RTN without discounts from Durham every 20 minutes or so

There's been talk about people using the Metro Centre locals no doubt some are people doing that journey.

I know I would rather than sitting on buses for days.

Then the added cost of getting to metrocentre. Happy just to pay £6 and for it to take bit longer

The train goes direct to the Metro Centre with a change at Central.

Most people will be paying £10.90 anyway because of using an Arriva bus to Durham anyway.

The issue is the faff of changing from the X21 to the X66, it's a right trek (if you follow the rules) as you have to double back on yourself, it makes what would have been a <50m walk to a >200m walk. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've managed to make that connection without having a 10 minute wait!

Being a lazy sod, I definitely prefer just going to Eldon Square then getting one of the many buses to the Metrocentre.

Just hop the barrier haha. Not that I condone such actions!

i think streetdeck is on about the fact that the bus stops 100 metres up the concourse and you could take the short cut across the road avioding the buses as you do or take the proper route of all the way back to to the crossing, asted the beggers at the metro doors then back on yourself on opposite side of the road just to see the x66 driver waving at you as he pulls away

Yeah correct, so buses to Peterlee will serve the Cenotaph and Station Road twice plus serve both sides of Woods Terrace/Colliery Inn.

Despite this line:
“Working in partnership with Durham County Council, we are pleased to confirm that once per hour, service 61 will be extended from Murton to Peterlee, replacing service 62 which will be withdrawn. These journeys will serve Wembley Estate as originally proposed.

It actually appears it’s the Murton short runs that are going to Wembley/East Moor Estate.
RE: Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
Google maps also says it goes around easington colliery which it does not

Same as 61 service to Dalton Park

Leave Dalton Park

At r/about turn left towards Murton

At traffic lights turn left

U-turn at bottom of road (Wembley) back to traffic lights

At traffic lights turn left.

Normal full 61 route round Murton back to the Colliery Tavern

At T junction turn right

Follow road Past Eppleton Farm on right

Take first left (signpost Easington Lane)

At r/about straight on

At traffic lights turn left (Easington Lane)

Same route as 55 to Peterlee

I live in Murton and don't understand any of the logic in that.

Probably less than you think given the bus will have "Peterlee" on the front.

Lemme get this straight, this is the route it's doing?

This is no way a criticism of the artwork, but It looks like Otis the Aardvark from CBBC back in the day.

More great news for those travelling across Murton… even more streets of the village to look around!

I live in hope that someone will realise this route around Murton needs reviewing.

Talking about Murton routes, Which route through Murton did the 152 used to do when it was every 20 minutes with one extended from murton to Peterlee many moons ago

Same route the 62 does now.
The 151 did Truro Avenue and the 153 did Knaresborough Road and weirdly Park Lane.

5245 did the 81 route learning today. Tracked as 999 then route learnt the 71 as well. This is a possible showing the 71 going to Washington
RE: Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
Really, all they needed to do with the 62 is get shot of the diversion through Horden, that's what most people (that are in the local facebook group) dislike about the 62 vs the 202, and also time it better with the X6. I suppose it is a good way of solving complaints - stop serving the people who are complaining Wink

Is the loop going 2-ways or are all buses running clockwise?

If it runs.

The just before 11am x21 started at Chester, this morning, so we caught the 50 to get the 21 before the one we'd have to wait for in Durham. Still rolled into Newcastle just behind the x21 after the one we couldn't catch because the 21 we were on was very busy and delayed.

So, to get to the metrocentre, we've gone from the x22 plus 8 buses an hour into Gateshead (including the x12) to 5 buses an hour into Gateshead, if they even run.

Our alternate route was bus into Stanley then one of the M buses, which took about the same time as the 21 +x66. They've been even more severely curtailed, so that's out unless we get lucky on a return journey, now.

The plus of walking the legitimate way round Gateshead interchange is that you clock the massive, rowdy, queue for an x66 that is nowhere in sight and hop onto the waiting 49, instead.

Looking at the service change list again, I believe this is where the 50 extension will be heading as it said Sea Road which is where the abandoned bus stop is, Pier Head obviously the SeaFront and then Coast Road to Marsden, that is the only thinkable way the 50 will turn around, gonna have to wait and see. I dont know about the way back but is looking most likely that way, It could loop back round to the Town Hall and back into the Interchange.

Thats there is anyone wants to look
Going off Google Maps, the Sunday extention of the 50 to Marsden is essentially replicating the daytime 516 route from Coast Road - Redwell Lane to the Interchange (omitting Lawe Road, Green's Place & Baring Street: assuming that's the correct route for the 516, instead just going along Ocean Road).

Turning the X21 at West Auckland Club paired with some timetable changes look to have put the journey time to just under 2 hours so would appear to save a bus from the PVR.

The current contract for the 434/448 with GNE has been extended till September 3rd.

Still need stand time at Eldon Square so I reckon PVR will be same unless wrong? I think the turn is to keep it under EU driving distance thus saving the need to split the route.

Has 5 mins turnaround at West Auckland and I think about 7 minutes in Newcastle (can't get exact time as Google Maps isn't showing any times to/from Eldon Square)

Can't see there being any demand for anything more. It's only really a Murton to Peterlee and Sunderland to Easington Lane / South Hetton and inbetween them service and there's never going to be anymore demand that what's there. They're lucky they've got anything at all as they could've easily been told to change like other areas tbh.

Anyone else will use the 15 minute 22/23 service unless they've got a screw loose.
