South Tyneside/Sunderland Service Changes

RE: South Tyneside/Sunderland Service Changes
Services 5, 9, 24 & 26 will all interwork. IE 24 to South Shields then either 26 to Lukes Lane, 26 to South Shields, then 24 to Sunderland. Or 24 to South Shields, 5 to Jarrow, 9 to Sunderland and vice versa.

So

24>5>9>5>24 (will they change drivers when they get back to Sunderland on the 9 as I think it will pass the 5hour 20 mins limit for Driving) Tho it could just be under at 5hours. If each 24 takes 40 mins, 9 takes 50, 5 takes 1 hour each way

Will it be a mixture allocation? or will it be all Streetlites?

There is enough streetlite, I think the question will be will they all be the same spec? Cos I'd imagine 8339-8343 will be allocated however those could go on the 61.

It will probs end up being a mix of 15' 16' 63' Plate Streetlites.

It’ll be three patterns I’m guessing so

1) 24 to Shields > 5 to Jarrow > 9 to Sunderland
2) 9 to Jarrow > 5 to Shields > 24 to Sunderland
3) As you said, 24 to Shields > 26 to Hebburn > 26 to Shields > 24 to Sunderland

Essentially 1 & 2 will be circular patterns, doing the opposite one to each other.

One an evening it will probs be

24 to Shields >26 to Hebburn >26 Shields >24 Sunderland

9 Jarrow > 5 Shields > 5 Jarrow > 9 Sunderland > 60 Parkside > 60 Sunderland > 61 Murton > 61 Sunderland > 60 Parkside > 61 Sunderland

It will be a mix but most common one would be the Streetlites as some of the Prince Bishops are being repainted in to the fleet livery. the Violets may make their cameos on the routes aswell so it will be nice

Do you know for certain what's happening with the Violets or are you guessing?

Guessing, there's more than enough Streetlite's to cover it. I'd imagine the Violets will be going to the scrapyard / Washington to replace the two 08 spares there with the 5x Streetlites there coming in return for the 26.

Assuming the 20 PVR will be 8 you'd have 19 Streetlite's (5411 - 5429 unallocated) plus the 4 spare 16 Plates, more than enough.

8339 - 8343 no doubt going on the 61.

How much is PVR reducing for the 4? Sure it was mentioned be reduced by 2. Therefore have 2 branded spares

Ah yeah forgot about that actually, your probably right tbf. Guess it depends what comes across for the 8 from CLS and whether there'll be enough for that and the 50 aswell which I guess won't have anything - no doubt allocated Streetdeck's.

Be interesting to see what the 34 is allocated aswell as I can't see Washington having a microfleet of 3 Versa's for it.

Surely with the service cuts there will be plenty of single deck vehicles surplus to requirements, and I can see the 09 Versa being withdrawn.

Yeah agreed but I suppose it depends whether they'd rather get those off the road or the fuel hungry Citaro's. Don't believe there's enough to get both off unless they lose the CLS - Langley Park 25/28/29 contracts, it's mostly Decker's and Solo's which seem to be impacted more.

Mind be interesting to know what's going spare - if anyone's bored enough to do it I'm too lazy.

Yea full allocation of streetdecks for 50. Although few overhanging trees in boldon makes me bit skittish.
I imagine normal allocation and a spare streetlite? They might just chuck few solos on 34

Aye I was thinking that with the 34 tbf should be a lot free with the 82 changes already at Washington; mind not sure if they're big enough or how busy the 34 can get.

Wonder if the 41/41A might end up getting them back releasing the Streetlite's out of Percy Main either, not sure they're really needed on their either now the 19 is back down to Solo with those going to Washington / Deptford for whatever including the 34/34A like they were on for awhile.

Think they been operated by solo on few runs before, but not sure. Don't think I've ever been on it.
Haha yes it will please some people having newer solos back in NT, however probably try get rid of two 11 plate solos on AD122 first

tbf the 62 plates at Percy Main aren't much better, least the 11 plates at Hexham are standard interior. I'm guessing they'll be replaced by something new for the 74 since it needs to be Euro 6, no doubt why the trial of the breadvans has been happening lately.

Timetables now on Traveline...I get a PVR of 18 for the 5, 9, 24, and 26

Ugh they do look awful like. What are 729/730 doing? Forgot what they were even for now

Not a clue tbh, I heard Staff shuttles last time but unsure, they haven't been in passenger service for months though.

They are used daily on Deptford Staff Shuttles, they were new for the H Service between the RVI and Freeman Hospital before being replaced by full sized single deckers to enable social distancing during the pandemic, then they got them awful Yutong CB12's that they use now.

Awful? Most drivers and passengers seem to like them, from what I hear?

They’re not the bonniest of machines, mind.

Thanks for that, thought they were at Riverside for some reason.

Definitely don't like the awful, plasticity looking seats that 5499 has. They look even worse than those Urban 90 seats that Arriva's Y reg Lowlanders had. https://flic.kr/p/S34fak

5500's seats don't look much better either. https://flic.kr/p/2kKVscX
though I'll note that they do look similar to to the seats in some dealer stock Solo SR's. https://www.flickr.com/photos/111243429@...1q6-S7nuAv

Both vehicles had their seats swapped out for high-back Transitos, similar to the ones seen in 6337.

Such as the X75?

Non-standard buses for non-standard routes and are intensively used on the H during the week - it's just that they go mostly unnoticed because it doesn't pass through Eldon Square like everything else haha.

Looks like the 35A is being spilt on a Sunday

Boldon to Sunderland Interchange - arrives at 10:20 bu then doesn't do the next section  - Sunderland Interchange to Low Moorsley, York Street until 11:01am.

But going from the Low Moorsley - it runs straight through.

I got on 5500 at Howlands Rally the other week and it had a horrendous turning circle, might've been because you weren't driving it Dan  Tongue
