Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022

See personally I think it would be the busiest out of all the plans, you've got a popular business park at one end and the whole route is pretty much urban throughout. If they can somehow work the metro connection, cost aside it'll be the best of the worst other than the West End plans. Not to mention there's some very poorer areas which might potentially regenerate with the Metro especially in the Chester Road and Gilley Law area.

The Washington Line is no different, there's never been a link between the Victoria Viaduct towards Sunderland and the only way arguably through is straight through a large house which won't go down well and there is literally nothing along there at all. Leamside should be opened though mind.

Well the streetdecks arestill at Consett tonight (no immediate rush to transfer I guess). 6336 and 6337 have transferred to Consett though. [Image: b7d4984f52b036dfa429df763c05d52e.jpg]

I'd imagine they are with us because of the Streetdecks leaving and to cover the PVR?

On loan from the commercial team perhaps?

Testing out new routes to assess commercial viability?

Well 6351 has been missing in action for approx 3 weeks and numerically, would fit for X10. Who knows.

I doubt it. Consett have a Euro 6 PVR of 19x (45/X30/X31/X45/X71/X72). So with 13x of the 14x out of 6338-51 in service, that leaves 1x spare. And on top of that, 6336-37 will also be needed to ensure a suitable spare ratio to cover a PVR of 19x.

I don't think 'lucky' is the word, for those who have tried to use the 4 today!

I’ve said this already, if they’ve any sense any repaints will be into either Corporate or  generic Xlines so they can easily move vehicles around.

Look at the 61A/5A/35A/9/24/26 they all interwork
How can a 61a change to a 5a when it doesn’t come to Sunderland

It wasn't the order they interwork it, but all those services do interwork on atleast 1 bus during the Sunday scheduling to say it is a right mess is an understatment.

It also seems like there are no citaros in operation on a Sunday

Nah, that sort of route is too adventurous and different for them.

Not sure what's exactly wrong with having interworking patterns that actually work.

Personally I'd rather have a bus on time than a correct allocated bus. The day branded buses die and they start regulating buses by just swapping everything over like Arriva do at Haymarket, Blyth and Durham with a bus on standby to drop in rather than turning things around short needs to come. It's a hell of a lot better system imo and would easily work somewhere like Park Lane.

Not sure if it happens at Darlington or Middlesbrough, anyone know?
RE: Go North East: Major Service Changes July 2022
I'm curious as to why the 20 needed to be split in two, as the replacement 24 appears to interwork with every route they could tag onto it. Surely this only increases the chances of delays and cancellations over more routes?

Its just a Sunday, but yeah they split the 20 & 24 to stop this, and there was on 35/24/9 which basically ran 15 mins late all day

Remember that it still interworks with other routes on South Tyneside on other days, it'll be interesting to see how reliable the services will be.

tbh not sure it was done for reliability reasons. Think it was more so they could upgrade the 50 to Deckers and pull the 26 out. There wasn't anyway of doing it under the old 5/9/26 combination without changeovers outside of Sunderland and having Streetdeck's on the 26 was a waste.

Pretty sure the 9 has like a 15-20 minute layover in Sunderland. So reliability shouldn't be a massive issue.

24 has around 5-10 min layover in Sunderland.

It's been reduced to 12 minutes.
