Yes.

Radio silence from the company though - news spread by word of mouth (one driver found out when he flagged down the Shields training bus; another found out from a passenger!)

Silence only at Sunderland. South Shields well aware they’re receiving the X34 and have been for almost a month.

Not by default and it seems a lot of the X34 drivers are unwilling to move back. There are drivers transferring though.

Didn't they just move them to Wheatshef.

Also when they moved the E's isn't that when they took the final stagecoach regular service to Park Lane and terminated it at Wilkos

The service to Park Lane was scrapped well before the E services moved to Sunderland. Rumours of these services moving to SS are simply there to scare Sunderland striking bus drivers. Surely any SS driver would be crossing the picket line?

Also if anything the E's moving to Sheilds if it does happen would help elevate the driver shortage which SC is experiencing.

The E services will stay at Sunderland imo. I kind of see sense about the X34, but moving the E’s would be vindictive by SNE management. It’s merely a strike breaking tactic. What next, threaten to move other services SS depot??

Could the X24 and the X34 not interwork?

The problem for Shields is the X34 and the Scholars. the latter need careful management to ensure the X34 has three E400, otherwise it's an E200...

In theory yes, and keep the entire operation away from Wheatsheaf. But there isn't enough Deckers to maintain that during weekdays, only Saturdays.

(29 Oct 2022, 8:44 pm)Storx wrote I have a feeling Covid messed things up. Their fleet is starting to become a problem in some areas to the state of First's fleet before they flogged everything off especially since they haven't bought a bus in England since bar one small batch down South.

Stagecoach Midlands, Stagecoach South and Stagecoach South West are particularly bad and riddled with Darts, 15+ year old Solo's and ALX 400's, one being an 04 plate and in the new livery. Even the flagship Manchester fleet has 250+ 08/58 Enviro 400's in frontline service and on paper should be withdrawn next year and usually be sent elsewhere to withdraw the ALX's above.

They're in a big of a mess imo, the North East is generally doing 'alright'.
although let's not forget that stagecoach GREATER MANCHESTER as a division is probably around 4-5 times larger than SNE, the stagecoach Manchester subdivision (if memory serves me correct is alone 2-3 times bigger than SNE) has the electrics and a lot of MMCs, i believe the 250 plus 2008 E400s are in the wigan, Salford and Oldham subdivisions which aren't as profitable and aren't as busy.

Manchester as a whole is going the way of london where gradually everything is controlled by a local authority PTE so some routes may be retendered

If you look on Newcastle City Council's website they claim it is active now, but charges only apply to vehicles after 30th January 2023.

The signs and cameras are up. Signs as you cross the Tyne Bridge, and there's a camera when you turn onto the bottom of Pilgrim Street.

No stripes or diagonal lines on the Manchester vehicles.

We all know what that means! A ten percent pile-on incoming!

Whereas Liverpool... Well they're gonna love that. It has stripes on.

I wonder if these will see off the ALX300s rather than sending them to Teesside?
