New GNE Logo?
Go-Ahead has rolled out a new logo, and any of their bus companies with a ‘Go’ prefix will need to replace their own logo with the Go-Ahead styled one, as shown in that graphic.

There will be an increased prominence of being part of the Go-Ahead Group across all bus businesses (so, as an example, Go South Coast’s individual brands will instead be Bluestar/Southern Vectis/Damory/Salisbury Reds part of Go-Ahead).

It's the most half-arsed logo I think I've ever seen, can't imagine how much Go-Ahead paid to get that done!

Not sure what you’re getting at here…

This isn’t something Go North East has decided to do, and it isn’t something that they are prioritising over anything else.

I understand that this is a Go Ahead Group initiative and nowt to do with the local team.

I can't see it affecting any local priorities!

I never mentioned GNE. This wasn't me 'having a go' at GNE.
It's clearly a decision that impacts the divisions groupwide and has cost the organisation money, money the industry keeps telling us they don't have.

Meanwhile, passenger numbers continue to fall and I'd argue there's many other things that are more important than commissioning, designing, rolling out and sorting out vinyls for a new logo.
In addition to updating websites, apps, letterheads, uniforms, business cards and whatever else the old logo appeared on.

RE: New GNE Logo?
I really don't understand why they want to unify things. Two out of the three, 'worst group' and Arriva of the big ones have a horrid reputation and it drags it across the company. Least having disconnected names, the basket case areas like GoNorthEast don't drag down the alright areas like Brighton and Hove.

I doubt that's an urgent task........
RE: New GNE Logo?
Personally, I don't care if they have a new logo, as long as the buses are running, that's all I care about.

No idea why people are making a massive deal about it......................
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

And well that’s debatable! Especially if your bus route is a riverside operation…

An incorrect website address is actually pretty shoddy - anyone who may try use that link will be faced with a broken link. Having said that I’m not sure if it’s a case that one bus has just been missed or a more widespread issue?
RE: New GNE Logo?
A poor move from the group which smacks of vanity. Buses are fundamentally a local product so diluting the relationship to place is retrograde step. Particularly for East Yorkshire, Brighton & Hove where their brands have a strong local identity.

Think it's just that. There was one Solo at Peterlee didn't get the new logo until it got repainted. Either 661 or 663 - one eventually recieved the new logos while still indiGo. Here they are in Jan 2019 anyway.

(That second one was during the Arriva strikes, hence the decker on the X5)
RE: New GNE Logo?
First a new logo, how long before they introduce a Go Ahead livery for all Go Ahead fleets across the UK to be the same, just like Stagecoach and Arriva, I can see it happening in the next couple of years

If that's not, then this probably isn't either.

Because we keep hearing about how poor they are. How they've got no money and then they spend money they apparently don't have, to change the angle and add a little smudge underneath it.

That's what annoys and frustrates people.

Good luck getting a bus BTW.

RE: New GNE Logo?
There was a Solo which had the Old GNE logo on the front till about 2021 (cannot remember which one, it was between 11-63 plate so it has been withdrawn now)
RE: New GNE Logo?
The logo is awful, but it's being blown all out of proportion on this thread. The Go Ahead Group is far more than what's up here in the North East, and the decision has likely been made by some Marketing Manager than can attach a lot of buzzwords to a redesign. Very much in a similar vein to everyone's favourite design agency and a select few MDs.

Unlike long, drawn out rebranding exercises like Stagecoach and Arriva, there's no suggestion this is going to be a standardisation across the bus network. There's no mention of it in their corporate strategy or annual report. Even with the new logo, old logo, or the logo before that, they all say 'Go North East' - does the average customer really care beyond that?

RE: New GNE Logo?
Simple is the way forward for a lot of companies in term of logo design refreshes. It’s where the design industry has been for a while. Many logos now rely heavily on simply typeface as the logo with perhaps a small icon/symbol to reinforce the brand. And as say there’s a few examples of companies switching to something a lot more ‘basic’ some could say, BT being the most striking example.

I could see a point though where Go Ahead may want to rebrand their regional assets under ‘Go Ahead’ everywhere, so that ‘Go Ahead. North East’, ‘Go Ahead. East Anglia’ etc. which wouldn’t be too dramatic from where they are now for most. But would help unify operations more, if so desired. Obviously would be a bit more of a change for Bluestar etc.
