The whole thing is waffle.

It should be:
3-5-2 to Newcastle, Killingworth Bus Station

Nothing more. The 'This is the' 'service' or 'Next stop is' isn't needed either.

It's worked in London for years now.

Heck you could even do

North Tyne Rockets 3 - 5 - 2 to Newcastle

It's still less than
This is the 3 - 5 - 2 service to Newcastle.

Completely agree with this bit but apparently GNE think London announcements sound unfriendly so added the waffle to annoy their passengers

Maybe they thought the extra fluff would "create desire" Huh
RE: Next Stop Announcement Systems
‘Askew Road West/Oak Square’ (Metrocentre bound) is never announced in full.
Not sure if the geofence is too close to the stop or something but most of the time you only get “Next Stop” and then it’s cut off.
If a bus is approaching the stop slow enough you might get “Next Stop, Askew Road West” and then it’s cut off.

I’ve noticed a few stops do this too. Like St. Michael’s Way on the 9 and 56, by the time the announcement starts it cuts itself off.

Service 35 / 35A miss off the Broadway in Castletown......
After Fawcett Terrace / Grange Rd it announces Hylton Castle Rd missing out 1-Castletown cricket club .2- The Broadway. 3 -Doctors surgery. & 4 - Opposite cricket club. It does this in both directions.

Same as the new North Tyne Rockets, they never seem to have it on.

Never been on a Durham Diamond for ages, but is it both the screens and audio not working?

Just got off a 351 and everything was working perfectly.

For the times I've been on it, its always been the Audio working but never the screens. I wouldn't be surprised if they won't be fixed given the fact they are weeks away from being gone.

Was on the 84 earlier, and I noticed the NSAs still get confused around the Barmston area. JFK being announced as the next stop, despite it needing to do a loop around Horsley Road first.

Had my first ride on GNE for a while, and I must say I've missed the comfort of the Streetdecks over whatever Arriva shove on the 6!

They seem to have finally done the announcements for the new stops between Cabin Gate and Tindale on the X21.

Was following 6099 yesterday and it changed its destination to say '56 Newcastle' but the NSA screen was scrolling along it being a 56 to Sunderland. Is that by design?

I drove 6099 the other day and the NSAs weren't working. It didn't autochange along Gateshead High Street to say Market Street either, must need repairing.

If only there had been a period of time leading up to this event, when the organisation could have carried out a full audit of all its vehicles and the kit on it. Ahead of rolling out a plan of fixes and repairs when the vehicles were off the road.

Assuming it hadn't just broken at some point beyond Saturday morning of course.

Maybe this did happen, and any buses which were identified as needing repairs are currently waiting for the supplier to come out to fix them.

Assuming the supplier has other customers and couldn’t come out to Go North East immediately.

If it did happen, I applaud them. Nothing like using time productively.

I'd be disappointed if the supplier couldn't get out though. Particularly if there are SLA's in place and the GNE fleet were sitting there doing nothing but waiting for a fix.

I’d have thought or hoped that those staff would have been out supporting the contract and then skeleton services as opposed to fixing a system we all hate.
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Even the ones who can't drive or don't have bus licenses?

The rest aye, but they need to keep the others busy and productive.
I'd have thought it would be the perfect task and an opportunity to put right all those little issues that existed.

Indeed. A good use of their time, especially given that these systems must be fitted and operational, by law, from 1 October 2024 (starting with any bus which was first registered after 1 October 2019).

How come the 47 is still making announcements as if it runs non stop between Metrocentre and Central Station?
This was flagged with customer services who passed it on two months ago, yet it’s still not sorted and still causing confusion.

All this time to get things in order. Just the simple things. And they can't.
