GNE have uploaded a map with what stands each service will use within Durham Bus Station: https://images-gonortheast.passenger-web...2023_0.pdf

The 61 and 62 might as well have stayed on North Road because they'll never get a look in on the guaranteed Arriva layover bay that is stand A.

I really don't understand the logic of them leaving from stand A, in an ideal world, the 62 at least would've left from the same stand as the 50 given they run the same routes up to the Arnison Centre (although think the 50 & 62 leave Durham around the same time) or leave from North Road with the 64.

40 having to go onto North Road when heading towards the Rail Station is questionable, too, given it has to double back on Millburngate.

I was expecting it to be pretty much exactly the same.

Anyone got a stand layout for the old bus station?

Unless I'm missing something, it's identical to old awful designed bus station.

Also leaving the bus station if your going left there are buses parked at the stands and there are buses coming down its going to be awfully tight.

Yeah I just looked on Google Maps not a single extra stand literally just the building changed, nothing has been changed road wise

Yeah it's a naff bus station, always has been but there's not really any space in Durham to do anything better tbh (the church is listed). It was also the cheapest option.

They should have just built the bus station at Sniperley then utilised the P&R buses to provide a shuttle into the centre.

Aye was going to be at the end of North Road instead, but if I remember it had no layover space at all.

Probably because Durham is an absolute crock!

I can't be arsed with trekking up and down mountaints just to go to run of the mill shops.

Plus Durham seems to attract a particularly arrogant type of student that makes it all the more off-putting. Especially those from far away lands that don't understand the concept of queueing and just barge their way through.

And to top it off the Spoons on North Road closed so there's literally no reason to go now. The Walkergate one just isn't as good.

Doesn't help you can save the bus part of it and just go to Arnison and save time and there's ample parking in the centre with, I believe, free parking after 3pm now anyway so absolutely no point in wasting you're time using the P&R.

Other than workers, I don't understand why anyone would use it tbh.

We used to use it all the time, but now we either pay to park up Crossgate since we're rarely there over half an hour, or just park for free down by the river after 2pm.

We did too, however we wanted to go one sunday and the P&R doesn't run on a Sunday so we just parked in the ODEON carpark (or Wilkinsons (i think) is what it was called) and it was much cheaper so we always park down and just walk.

Convenient for people coming in from the East or from within the city itself.

The only real difference from the old layour is that the shops are gone and the passenger concourse is closer to North Road so there is a bit more space for buses to manoeuvre.

And hopefully you can walk around without tripping over buckets.

Have they announced what the toilets will be like?

Presumably they won't be free, and now that Spoons is closed opposite you'll have no choice but to pay up. I haven't tried the new pub out that's replaced it yet, so not sure what they're like for people popping in and out just to use them.

Yeah on one of there plans they literally labled it "pay station" or something like that.

The ones at Middlesbrough are contactless, hopefully theses one will be too, no doubt so they can just increase the price, Doubt it'll be 20p

Plan was for a double Male WC and double Female WC, both behind pay gates. In addition, there'd be an accessible toilet and parent & child (baby changing) toilet, but presumably these will be controlled by keys. There were also plans for a changing places toilet.

Oh, and there's staff toilets upstairs.

Why would it be similar to the old one?

Lots of services have revised timetables since then, so won’t fit on the same stands as they did.

Where did you get that from? There's not much changing with the 20, just a few extra 20As running.

Ah , Apologies, I saw on Page one that the 20 was showing as Durham to Sunderland.... Guess registration has always said that... Apologies again.
