Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions

RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
The next batch of Enviro 400s coming from London are numbered 6232 onwards with up to 6240 allocated for use so far. Guessing they be converted to single door before use, so probably be springtime before we see any of them.

The last batch of enviros stayed dual door though....it was the B9TLs which got converted
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
Yes, but that doesn't stop the next batch (61 Plated examples from GAL Blue Triangle) from being converted to single door. 4 of them are currently stored at Hexham awaiting conversion. If they were to retain their dual doors they would have been numbered 69xx.

Might have a re-furb like the Streetliites aswell, they should really go onto the X5/X15/16/16A, as the buses they have currently are awful, especially for an XLINES Service

Fully agree, those routes have went from having buses with a great internal appearance to be lumbered with a mix of Voyager branded buses, second hand b9's and a couple of Omnidekkas. Hopefully get something back on these routes with better internals.

The X5/X15 should be renumbered 14/15. There's absolutely nothing express about them and should've never been X-Lines in the first place. They're secondary services at best and have been treat like one since pretty much forever.
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
I was on the 94 today and noticed it only has one bay rather than 2. The staircase also seems massive compared to other DD i been on?

Wonder what route they're going on, if they go to Percy Main, as they already have full allocations for Streetlites (I think?)
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

Paint everything yellow, then all to be done is add white saloon window strips and blue, green or purple sills when the whole area goes under unitary control like Manchester.

Yep, they are replacing the B5LH's at Consett so being converted to Single Door'd.

Why would it be 14/15. Realistically if the X5/X15 was to be no longer 'X' they would just go back to the 15/15A.
Them being X-Lines was because it being the much faster Durham bound route from Consett, only takes it 30 mins from Consett to Durham which is fairly decent.

X routes to me should be an express version of another route and it's literally not express at any point but that's just my opinion.

Hate A's pretty much, unless it's a small variant where it makes sense and the 14 is free now for the 15A. The 16/16A is an alright use of A as it's just a small variant in Stanley and the rest is the same but the 15/15A literally serve a different town in Leadgate and the other doesn't.

The X5/X15 is a Straight road from Lanchester to Framwellgate thats the express in it plus its a Direct route whereas the 16 waffles on from Consett
Also the X5 goes a different way to Consett by going through Delves Lane which isnt in Leadgate where the X15 serves.
Having a 14/15 is a silly idea cause it just makes them look like 2 completely different routes and would just confuse people.

I understand you're argument but that's not express imo. It has to be express over another bus route. If I was expecting an express service I'd be expecting a long distance where there's no stops and you bypass places, ie X10/43 with Arriva.

To be fair they pretty much are 2 completely different routes though, arguably most of the population are on those seperate sections. I'd doubt people would get confused though, there's plenty routes like them in the North East, especially with Stagecoach which are similar or even the 28 and 29 with GNE (acknowledge they're done by DCC).
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
Ex London Gemini 6210 has been re-registered from LX59CYY to CU7661.
Omnidekka 6148 has most likely regained its original registration of YN05GZR as this was the previous custodian of CU7661.

It's possible 6212 has been re-registered too.
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
(11 Dec 2023, 11:11 pm)Storx wrote The 21 is GNE's flagship route.

10, 20, 56, X1 are the other 4 main ones though imo.

I wouldn't count anything else as really flagship.

Stagecoach Newcastle: 39/40/62/63
Arriva Northumbria: Unsure, all could be for a shout bar the 1/2/35/57/57A
Arriva Durham County: X4/63/X66/X67/7
Stagecoach Sunderland / South Shields: Unsure, E1/E2/E6/3/4 Sunderland?
Stagecoach Teesside: 12/36/37/38

That's what I'd say for them all personally.

I would probably add the 24 to Arriva Durham county as well.
I would say the 1 6/7 for the flagship routes in Hartlepool.

For Sunderland, I'd say either [3 or 20] and X24.
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
Apparently the Yellow Streetlites for the training school, to me, do GNE just love wasting money?, Refurbed them etc, yet for training?

Seems a massive waste, they could of used the Drifter ones or 8339-46 for the training school?

Agree entirely, what was the point of painting the Omnicity's.

NON PSV aren't subject to clean air penalties, if they were Stagecoach would have had to replace the ALX300s

That's good, thank you for the information.

I take it 8329 was not worth the repairs?

All four have or had MOTs which were expiring.
