Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes

RE: Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes
(13 May 2024, 11:36 pm)Ambassador wrote They could quite easily withdraw the northern route of the X12 past Durham.

It’s so lightly loaded aside a match day or if GNE has one of its 21 melt downs

That would help timings

It would do absolutely zero to help the timings, given the Northbound and Southbound X12's are in Durham at pretty much the exact same time.

I'd say 308 to Stagecoach and run the 306 standalone

To be honest, the 306 wouldn't be a bad little operation for Stagecoach but I doubt Arriva would give them up anytime soon unless forced by Kim!

Up until 1981 it was jointly operated by Northern and Tyne & Wear P.T.E (stagecoach's Predecessor)

Didnt GNE and Arriva also share it at some point?

Both the 308 & 777 have a timetable change for July

308 says Revised Route and Timetable due to completion of roadworks

777 says revised timetable

The 308(306) will be the work in Tynemouth at Grand Parade.

Be the rerouting up Percy Park Road as Sea Banks Road is now a 1 way system

That would increase the PVR by 1 at a time where Ashington are struggling enough as it is, so I can't see it happening at present.
RE: Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Looks like the route change on service 24 is at the Hartlepool end , with the 24 still going via Hartlepool hospital but route direction other way round

RE: Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes
I'm sure Michael will be along shortly to post this with the correct formatting and full details, but some interesting Arriva Northumbria registrations have appeared on the DVSA (all for September unless stated otherwise):

4X16: Wooler to Kelso (via Morpeth, Longframlington, Wooler)
3X16: Longframlington to Wooler (via Morpeth, Longframlington, Wooler)
2X16: Morpeth to Longframlington (via Morpeth, Longframlington, Wooler)

392: Marden Estate to HMRC Benton Park View (via Wallsend)

678: Hadrian Lodge to St Thomas More Academy

664: Burnside College to Wallsend (via Battle Hill)

Also variations to:

35 - Effective from 21st July ending on 31st August
44
777
1X16 (assume linked to Wooler/Kelso registration)
X21 - As 35
654
X30
693
306/308
699

And cancellations to:
47
116
656
105
553

Assume the X16 change is BSIP funded, and will see the interworking end with the 777.

I can't see any registration from GNE or Stagecoach which replaces the 47 or 553, maybe the 44 variation will cover the 47? That said, Stannington has disappeared from the 44 registration so maybe that's gone the distance.

That X16 is certainly an interesting one.

First ANE service to Scotland too?

Arriva used to operate into Jedburgh from Wooler in the early days, think it was linked to the food factory in the area at the time.
RE: Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Good to see Arriva have got the 392.

X16 Newcastle - Morpeth - Longframlington - Wooler - Kelso is an interesting one.

Surprised to see the 47 and 553 cancelled. The 47 especially as it was due to get an electric bus. Curious to know if the 653 will be cancelled as well or could be extended to run the full route like the 553 did before. Presumably something will cover the 47 route, it already interworks with the 43/44/45 so might be renumbered and merged into the 44 or 45.

As a workers service?
Genuinely didn't know about that route.
Would be interesting to see the timetable.

710 possibly? Unsure how it's funded as the freedom request only mentions the Saturday run, not the Wednesday one, but when you already have a bus service doing a chunk of the route it gives you a chance to undercut Glen Valley. Be a shame though as they've had it for years.

I think we all know BSIP hasn't been used as it could be, but I'd hope the two were to run in sync and complement each other - or at the very least, offer a slight alternative/variation.

The current 710 timetable doesn't really lend itself to the ANE network unless there's some dead running at the Kelso end.

Why do you say that BSIP hasn't been used as it could be? We'd have never seen services like the 777 without it! I suspect the X16 will be a replacement for the 710, but we'll have to wait and see.

Mainly in T&W.
The Derwentside to Newcastle services and the 20A being two examples off the top of my head, where older routes were re-introduced.
Rather than new services, like the airport 777.

Northumberland County Council seem to have been much better at using their funding, with improved evening and Sunday services, new/extended routes, and improved frequencies on corridors which could grow.

From the outside in, it certainly appears that way.
Whereas in T&W, there's the two examples mentioned above and the Tyne Bridge P&R site...
