Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes

Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes

RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
(09 Oct 2024, 3:24 pm)busmanT wrote But BSIP funding is several £ millions whilst a Sunday improvement like this will only cost in the low £10s of thousands. Need a lot of little improvements to spend the BSIP money!

I'm sure the BSIP money being spent to support the frequency increases on the Stagecoach 1 and 30/31 in Newcastle will result in passenger numbers growing and commercial operation, once the BSIP funding expires in April 2026.

It's almost as if its a blatant misuse of public money to fund returning previously commercially viable frequencies to be once again become commercially viable, but only once the taxpayer funded handouts dry up.  Whether its Stagecoach, GNE or anyone else, it stinks.

Thanks.  Learnt something new about bustimes.org today - found the above items on bustimes.org listed as Short Notice changes.  Also note there are similar ones for Stagecoach CNL 685 as short notice changes.

When it means full route is it from Newcastle to Carlisle on Sundays as well or is it a section like Hexham to Carlisle?

Who is running it? Carlisle or Slatyford?
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
On Monday to Saturday, the full route hourly service has 3 x Carlisle and 2 x Slatyford so I would expect the same.

The text below appeared on Stagecoach CNL dated 11 Oct 2024:

"685 Carlisle - Newcastle: A revised timetable will be introduced to improve punctuality of this service. There will also be a minor route change around Melkridge. In addition, Sunday services will operate as through journeys to Newcastle rather than Hexham funded by Northumberland County Council. Updated timetable available to view soon."

Note a lot of other Stagecoach CNL changes on 04 Nov which conincides with start of winter timetables in Central Lake District

Heard Stagecoach have planned changes at most of the NE depots in January 2025.

Wonder if they've got funding to advance some of the services to pre-covid frequencies.

Well they can’t exactly cut much else from Hartlepool as they struggling to keep on time and buses full for some journeys as it is.  Hopefully some more services although probably unlikely.

This is deliberate to stop early running.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Won't go into too much detail but I put in an email to Nexus regarding the 18 between Four Lane Ends and Walker last Sunday, and they replied saying the 18 is "not contracted by Nexus" and they "cannot investigate commercial services".

Is this true or is it just Nexus staff either trying to treat people like they're stupid and take the heat off themselves or their staff genuinelly have no clue? And if they are paying for the 18 and lying about it, what would the best way to dispute this? One of things I hate most is liars, and I will fight with any liar to prove them wrong as it is imoral.

I'm not trying to be spitefull or anything towards them and I hate to be an actual male Karen, but like I said, it's a different story when it comes to lying throught their teeth. I want to make 100% sure that me thinking the 18 is a Nexus paid service before I start playing the "you're a liar" card.

Yeah it is a fully contracted service by Nexus.

Whoever responded to your email is probably not lying deliberately - it's more likely that they just don't have a clue. I've found in the past Nexus staff are generally incompetent.

I heard a rumour about changes for the end of January 2025.

Nothing on VOSA yet although it would be too early.
