461 0740 Houghton - Biddick School 0815
864 0820 Washington Art Centre - Lord Lawson 0833
450 1525 St Roberts - East Herrington Board Inn 1610

Cheers.
That 864 is generally operated by an ex-London President and often heads back NIS along Portobello Road to Washington via the Mill House roundabout after unloading at Lord Lawson.

Will have to check out the St Roberts runs and see if that solves the riddle of the Loylne in Washington.

I have wanted to know why a bus is spoke of in female form...I guess it is like a sailor who refer to a ship as she and her...

I wonder if when a bus is launched someone gives it a christening by saying I name this bus_______, may god bless her and all who ride her

Is that just me being stupid, no Big Grin
RE: Go North East - Latest
6116 is on the 17 came 15 minutes late at Killingworth so dunno if it was related to the bus, hopefully not, but great ride to sixth form for once haha!Big Grin
Calling buses 'her'
There's a bit of debate as to why vessels (planes, boats and seemingly buses) are called her. It's generally accepted for one of the following reasons

1) Ships used to be dedicated to the female in a man's life, going back further in history they were named after ancient goddesses. Whilst in ancient times women were considered to be bad luck to be on board a ship, it is not bad luck to name the ship

2) The less interesting theory is that the word 'ship' was a feminine grammatical term and its simply carried through history. Modern English doesn't have male/feminine terms but those of you who have studied French or German will be will aware of masculine and feminine grammar.

(21 Mar 2014, 6:26 am)Dan wrote In regards to the B10BLEs, there have been no other withdrawals/cascades at present (as a result of the two arrivals at Chester). These movements are being done gradually though, so give it time. Especially given the reputation of the former "Wear Tees Xpress" branded vehicles and 4908 being replaced after one run of the Lime yesterday, don't expect miracles in regards to the time taken to perform the resultant cascades.

I think it is possible a Vyking or two may be freed up from Chester to allow another Olympian to be withdrawn.

3874 has been on the NTL network today, so not sure if it's transferred to Percy Main as a result of the ex-WTX renowns at Chester-le-Street?

Well then you were obviously seeing things because I don't think a bus can be repainted and branded over a night...

That's correct, as I suggested earlier.

Corgi have announced that GNE's Angel will become a model, it will come in 2 models, 1 to Newcastle and 1 to Durham...

Wright Eclipse Gemini 2, Go Ahead Northern Angel of the North, 21 Newcastle via Chester-le-Street - http://www.corgi.co.uk/shop/corgi-direct...le-street/

And...

Wright Eclipse Gemini 2, Go Ahead Northern Angel of the North, 21 Durham via Chester-le-Street - http://www.corgi.co.uk/shop/corgi-direct...le-street/

I hope they use two serial numbers, I was disapointed when they did the OK1s and both were 5229. It looks like 6067 in the images on the link, but perhaps they could do that for Newcastle and have another, perhaps 6069 going to Durham? Those two are the ones I seem to get most often (I use the 21 each morning for transport, the 8:10 from Chester Black Horse every day, it literally uses anything, it used to have 3965 and 3962 all the time, but now gets a mix of them, Presidents, Hybrids and very rarely, Lolynes and when it isn't on 844 duties or during the holidays, 3983.)

Branded 18/03/14, returned to service the following day.

The site's fleet list has been updated as follows:
  • 5161/64/66 repainted into Go North East's corporate livery.
  • Lolyne 3874 has been transferred to Percy Main (ignore my earlier mistake when I accidentally typed 'Vyking'! The posts which followed truly baffled me when I read them, hence why I didn't reply at the time).
  • President 6008 has been transferred to Deptford.
  • Renowns 4906-08 have been transferred to Chester-le-Street
  • Renown 4845 has returned to Deptford.
  • Following sale, Olympians 3811/20/27 have been removed from the fleetlist, and so have 8226/39/41 too.
  • Versas 8295/97 have been branded "South Tyne".
  • OmniCitys 5255/59 have been branded "Whey Aye Five 0".

Any other updates which have occurred in the past fortnight which don't appear above had already been updated.

some should be branded tonight for South Tyne thus why Cadet 8251 was on and 2 Solars that leaves 6 to be done got most photos on my turf i thought 4908 was the only one at Chester-le-Street while the other 3 are Stanley could be wrong

4906, 4907 and 4908 have all been transferred to Chester-le-Street, although it's easy to make the mistake of them being at Stanley given that those vehicles have been seen on the "Lime". The location of 4909 has not yet been established (and I've therefore left it as Deptford on the site's fleet list).

One Solar is always allocated to "South Tyne" services 88/88A due to the interworking nature with scholars. However, it's clear that two Versas were absent today - whether this was for branding or for maintenance purposes, we do not know.

We only know of 2 been branded so that's quite obvious. Anyway, a Solar and a Cadet as suggested by Dan may of been standing in for Versas getting branded? To be honest I still think the south tyne livery looked better on the Cadets. The versas just look bare imo.

I have always wondered. Does the Citylink require a PVR of 12 or 14? I ask this because there were 14 of the Rigid and Articulated Citaros when they were on the route but there is only 12 branded Versas so im assuming 2 of the 14 were branded spares and 5389 and 5390 have taken its place.

Not for a while yet if it's a bi-monthly news report! Tongue

Our fortnightly update will be done at some point today, I just need to upload some more photos to Flickr first - but I'm going out for an hour or two for now. Will post links on the apt thread when it's up.
