Hi so can i ask you somethink so the ex man from sunderland are comeing to replace old man from stockton is that rigth
RE: Stagecoach North East - Latest
If I lived on Teesside I'd be foaming 15-16 year old buses as replacement not ideal. I won't miss them from Sunderland. Breakdowns and the most annoying thing you can't hardly see the destination blinds on evenings

They are only a temporary move - they will be replaced later in the year by the new vehicles and (only rumoured at present) newer cascades from other depots.

By the end of the year, what remains of the non-DDA MANs will still be at the current 3 depots (Stockton, Sunderland and Slatyford) but in smaller numbers than now.

They're in a far better condition than Stockton's own fleet, I was on 22487 this afternoon and it is far better. I also had a ride on 22463 and that too was in a far better condition! Just been generally better looked after as far as I can tell...

Makes it even more bizarre for them to have sent 22463/64 down to Teesside then back to Sunderland again. When it appeared to be to keep the 227xx series together it at least made a little sense, but are 22467/87 really that different or more suited to Teesside that 22463/64?? It cant be a case of which are in better condition as all four are still in active service, just at different depots.

Stagecoach have uploaded information for their services over the Easter period, it's the same as last year.

I think it's linked to the round trip time taking too long on the evening 30 minute frequency. The driver would have to be given a hefty layover in the City Centre (as previously done on Sundays prior to frequency upgrade).

No doubt someone will still say it's on loan to Teesside lol

A Hylton Castle to Farringdon and back to Hylton Castle round trip on Service 3 would take about 75 minutes in the evening, so with a 30 minute frequency, it would take 3 buses with a 15 minute layover. A Pennywell to City Centre and back to Pennywell round trip on Service 20 would take about 40 minutes, so with a 30 minute frequency, it would take 2 buses with a 20 minute layover somewhere.

Doing a Farringdon to City Centre journey on the 3 then a round trip on the 20 to Pennywell and back then City Centre to Hylton Castle on the 3 then back to Farringdon takes just on 2 hours so on a 30 minute frequency it uses just 4 buses in total.

Yes, this seems more the convenience of the company but it saves a bus then it keeps fares down and/or keeps the evening service commercially viable, so Customers do win as well. And anyone wanting to travel from the Durham Road area to Southwick still does have the 4 and 13 available, so I can't see that many people would be inconvenienced by this.

And there is a fair bit of history of this happening in Sunderland. In Corporation Transport days, the 1 (Grangetown and Dene Estate), 7 (Town Centre and Docks), 15 (Town Centre and 25 (Town Centre and Witherwack) had a really complex interworking.
