Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2014

RE: Go North East - Latest
(07 Apr 2014, 1:15 pm)G-CPTN wrote I see that the (2014) AD122 timetable now starts and finishes at Hexham bus station rather than Newcastle at the ends of the day, so, presumably, it no longer serves the military road east of Chollerford as it runs through Acomb.

I wonder if it will visit Hexham Tourist Information office in Wentworth carpark to pick up passengers(which is where it used to start and finish during the day)?

No mention of ongoing connections to Boness on Solway or Carlisle (other than via Haltwhistle railway station).

Will it still carry cycles?

I suspect that this is out of date:- http://www.hadrianswallshop.co.uk/produc...r-ticket-/
and is based on last season's price of £9 for a day rover (which included Tynedale Links), and that this no longer applies:-

The Hadrian's Wall Bus has been a bit of a last minute dan thing and its ended up with just one bus on it for the time being, hence the reduced timetable to run between Hexham and Haltwhistle only. It will run via Acomb and will terminate in Hexham Bus Station and not serve the TIC (free car parkers can walk to Hexham Rail Station to board).

There aren't any connections at Haltwhistle for Westbound journeys and it won't carry bikes.

That Hadrian's Wall Shop link needs taking off (its in progress) and whilst Andreos 1 doesn't like the fares, the vast majority of past users are visitors staying in Newcastle (from survey data) and the fares are geared around them - the £15 Rover + ticket still works out well price wise if they had to get the train to Hexham then the AD122. As a lot of the services funding has disappeared (from both sides of the hill) the fares have had to have a bit of a review to keep the thing going.

Hopefully, it'll get a boost for the Summer Season as there's a few plans, but its been very last minute so far and fingers crossed that it'll do ok.

Think there was a little comment/debate about the step entrance bus being used by someone, rather than a easy access vehicle.

On a different note, does anyone know if 4990 is off the road?
Ain't seen it for a while

That was me complaining about the Decker, makes sense now though.

Correction. Its Andreos Constantoplous, not Andreos 1

Was just surmising to be honest.
The two could be connected, it could be totally unrelated.

Its to do with the family lineage that goes back to the Isle of Lesbos.

The family moved a few generations ago, as per the islands reputation, the chances of settling down with a female and carrying on the Constantoplous name, was remote.

We still have connections to Lesbos though.
Prince Phillip's flock of sheep are related to ours and often meet on the mountains.
Nikos Dabizas works on the Olive plantation and George Georgiadis has a job in our Feta cheese plant.

My chances of spelling your surname right are very remote & I can cope much better with 1 !!!

I once paid for some fencing for the garden thanks to a Nikos Dabizas goal I had a bet on - very good it was too

Because it interworks with scholars. That's why it is allocated a Solar on Saturdays.

So was George Gorgeadis.
The economy in Greece caused a few problems, hence them diversifying and finding employment sticking labels on olive oil bottles and milking goats.

Prince Phillip seems to have a few bob still like.

Citaro5284 didn't like it, when I missed the numbers off his name once and obviously Bazza, likes being called Bazza - some peoples usernames are obviously important.
Just call me Andreos C.

Was it the goal versus Sunderland?

Sure there will be a joke in there about Dabizas giving you de (best) fence in the village....
Maybe not.

Lesbos has an excellent bus network, operated by KTEL by the way.

We did take him on, but after a promising start - he flattered to deceive and ended up leaving after a few months.

No Nana Mouskouri Andreos?

The X3 should be extended to Athens

(09 Apr 2014, 10:38 am)gtom wrote The X3 should be extended to Athens

But how would that work with existing interworking arrangements with scholar services during the week?

On Saturdays, how would the Solars cope with excessive Mediterranean humidity?

Plus, knowing GNE, they're bound to curtail the service in a few months time to operate between Kosovo and Pilgrim Street only thereby missing out the vital shopping link through Macedonia and into Athens.
RE: Go North East - Latest
Just been on 6064 and it has no WiFi signal and when I think about it the last few times on 6064 have been the same. Could the lack of working WiFi on 6064 be the reason that it is the only Angel Hybrid with no free WiFi notice on the front upper window.
Has anyone actually had working WiFi on 6064 recently?

Has anyone noted 4840's new registration yet (R112 SBD)?
The vehicle didn't carry that registration when it was first allocated a few weeks ago as I saw it carrying 340GUP when first transferred to Hexham - not sure if anyone has seen it more recently?

Nah, she doesn't have the physique and her glasses cause the sheep to have nightmares.

How about the ad122, rather than the x3.
Sure the Romans left a mark in Greece too, with one or two historic monuments.

Not sure an MPD should be used though...

The buzzfare boundaries will be conveniently located between key locations. Dread to think how many zones they will fit in between Belgrade and Sarajevo or Bucharest and Cluj.

Someone has just posted the screenshot below on Facebook.
Ignore the article - it's the ad I'm getting at. Tongue

Go North East advertising the Waggonway. Noticed the promotion on Facebook the other day too.

I'm not sure about photographs, but I am able to provide some timetables for service 527 - hosted in our Bygone Era section:

527 South Shields - Ingham Infirmary - Jarrow - Felling Square - Queen Elizabeth Hospital - Newcastle (July 1990)
527 South Shields - Jarrow - Felling Square - Queen Elizabeth Hospital - Newcastle (August 1991)

> See timetable here.

527 Newcastle - QE Hospital - Felling Square - Heworth - Monkton Lane Estate - Jarrow - South Shields (August 1996)

Also, this PDF booklet contains a network map, details of service changes and timetables for service 527, dating back to January 2005.
