I don't see why Nexus haven't done it sooner, without QCS. Surely they have access to the fares? If it was done on the bus stop timetables (as per the document), one could still access fare information accurately, as you can access all bus stop timetables online.

Granted, no reason for the operators not to have something similar on their own timetables...

I agree, that timetable layout is much easier to read and better than the current one, only problem is the zones, maybe the operater could include their price on it.

Fares are one thing that should be more publically available. After all it would help if passengers knew the fares in advance they may have the right money available when boarding, speeding up the loading process in the same process!
Arriva's Sapphire timetable for service 7 is a superb example of what can be achieved, you could argue it would be nice if all services were operated to this standard though!

I was meaning the paper timetable Dan. It's a great little booklet with route maps, town guides and fare information alongside the all important timetables.

Thought I had replied to this at the time. Whoops!

I am surmising it is to with the archaic rules set up in 86.
Despite the whole idea of de-regulation being about competition and having an open market, the bonkers nature of some of the rules probably stops the operators or pte's advertising prices of singles.

Operators do it on their literature, but if Nexus started listing singles at the bus stops,chances are all passengers would wait for the cheapest operator to come along.

Otherwise, it would have been done by now and as far as I'm aware, advertising singles on bus stop timetables, isn't done anywhere.

May be way of the mark and I am sure someone will tell me if I am, but they are just my thoughts on it.

Just been viewing the Stagecoach Lakes Connection timetables, and there are some absolutely ridiculous prices:

Bowness to Ambleside - £5.10 (you can get to Barrow for £4.85!)
Windermere to Kendal - £5.65
Windermere to Coniston - £8.55
Kendal to Keswick - £9.30

Disgusting if you ask me!

Almost certainly. However thats where the day and weekly tickets come into play, making things cheaper for regular passengers. Indeed the Megarider Gold (valid across the whole North West) is "only" £26.70. Sounds a lot but compared to the single fares... It's really not.

Ouch indeed!

No idea on the GNE vs ANE fares.
Not sure if the two will be too comparable, taking into account journey times/distance.

A GNE fare must be clocking on close to a fiver, bearing in mind the cost of a single between Sunderland and Houghton.

Last time I bought a single between the two, it was around the £3.50 mark (give or take a ten pence or so).

The destinations on the ticket are correct, so my memory must be playing tricks.

I was charged £2.50 from Peterlee to Sunderland on the 24, so I'd imagine an adult single would be £5.00 - Not sure how much it is on the X7 though? It was the same from Peterlee to Hartlepool on another occasion too, and again, not sure on the adult single prices on the X35.
