@busman101, yup all their responsibility. Mind, if we had one body overseeing everything - maybe the flow of communication would be better.

No idea about any notices in Eldon Square last weekend though

Flip side of the coin - it stays the same as it is at present, and customers are at even more of a disadvantage...

I note that Nexus did not include anything about this disruption on their website, nor did they make an effort to put posters up at bus stops, but Go North East did include a little something on their website about the disruption prior to the event:
http://www.simplygo.com/news/houghton-feast-2014

Smaller operators, such as Compass Community Transport (of whom I imagine will be affected by the disruption at Houghton-le-Spring), rely on Nexus to make notices on their website because some of these companies don't have a website of their own, and when this doesn't happen, customers are left completely unaware...

I'm not sure whether notices were put up on-board Go North East buses, which they should have been in the event of a disruption like this, but customers were certainly made aware of the disruption via the website - more than what can be said about Nexus' efforts!

4908 parked up in Woodstone Village with hazards on. It is supposed to be doing a 78 to Sunderland, but wasn't doing very much when I passed it a few moments back.

A un-id'd laser was spotted at East Stanley the other day. Driven by an engineer and was heading away from Stanley depot. Any information on this?

I noticed that there is a 20MB limit on the Edinburgh Trams. It's fair to say I depleted that within just a few minutes by browsing through the Flickr application.

More than fair I'd say, but makes sense!

Out of interest, how would it be managed? Do all the access points redirect authentication (or TOS acceptance in this case) through a RADIUS server or the like?

Unsure to be honest, all I know is that we set the limit on a certain page within MoovManage and icomera do the rest.

You could set it by time if you wish, but of course, most contracts provided by mobile phone operators are based on data usage (which GNE's wifi is), so seems logical to set it by amount.

Just to give you an idea, we are usually using around 21GB of data a day across the fleet which has wifi installed.

@Robert
Presumably the Solar must have been there earlier on the week, as it was towards the middle/back end that Dan was saying all of the Solars for the 35 were out.

Unless, it ended up being pulled for whatever reason by Deptford.

@Citaro5284
That's a canny chunk of data being used. Has it gone up gradually since the WiFi issues were resolved, or has there been a sudden increase?

Gone up gradually as icomera have dealt with the issues, but after a bit of a push by them it shot up at the beginning of September.  We still have some issues with a number of Angel's which need sorting along with 6044, so expecting it to increase more when these are sorted.

Just noticed the A183 between Shiney Row and Barnwell os shut.
Buses being diverted around Penshaw - not very often you see a 78 heading along Station Road or infront of Barnwell Shops.

Photo opportunity?

RE: Fleet News
Will they continue with the B10's only or will something else be up for repaint since the tridents are done?

Moved your post here, as the main purpose of the other thread is just to provide links to the news articles rather than for discussion...
We'll have to wait and see, but I think we'll see fewer corporate livery repaints now and more branded vehicles getting repainted.

I hope they will drop the pointless brands... either way it might give us a idea on what else will get new buses this year..

I just noticed, they're's still a lot of the trident down as Northern.. mistake or are these ones not getting painted?

I believe only twelve Tridents were due to be repainted, ten remaining in "Northern" branding, and this was mainly linked to the timeframe for when these buses were not required for scholars, etc.

The repaints started as soon as the schools broke up for summer, way back in July, and I think it was expected that two would be completed per week (12 buses divided by 6 weeks holidays = 2 per week).
The repaints were delayed somewhat due to some of these buses being re-deployed elsewhere in the fleet to cover for absent Volvo B7TLs when the Glasgow Games were on, in addition to various buses being VOR (the Tridents are seemingly notorious for having engine issues).
This is why, one month into the new school term, we're still seeing the Tridents undergoing repaint. The process is even slower now, as depots are less keen on having absent double deckers when they could could potentially need them for scholars.

On about WiFi on the move, East Coast has a free 15 minutes per service for anyone in Standard. You have to log in with an email to activate your free 15 minutes, then you can choose to pay for more time if you want. (Free in First Class)
The way around it is that you can use as many email addresses as you wish! Smile

Yeah, it takes about 15mins just to get logged on at times.
I would love to know how far from 1st you need to be, before the restriction starts.

Is it as soon as you step from 1st to standard or is there a bit of tolerance?
Keep meaning to try it.

MPD 524 will be operating a shuttle service at Washington - not sure if it is the same one as before?
RE: Go North East - Latest

Nothing on Simplygo.com about a Shuttle Service due Road Closures etc, so I would think unless something is announced in the next few days that 524 is back at Washington as a much needed extra spare Vehicle, As we know from recent weeks just how bad Washington's Allocations have been, and didn't they have 6010 on loan from Stanley one day Last Week due to Vehicle Shortages.

And that's great news about 4949, not going to get my hopes up here but I wouldn't mind seeing a slightly different variation of the "Poppy Bus" Livery applied to it once it returns to Service.
