RE: Scarlet Band Motors
Made a tactical diversion up onto the slip road by the Fat Buddha, to get a better view of one of them amongst the traffic in Durham earlier this afternoon.
Unfortunately, the metal railings got in the way and the view wasn't any better.

They've been doing the Howlands shuttle all day today, so you should be able to catch a view of them at Elvet.

RE: Scarlet Band Motors
I saw it in my rear view mirror as I was crossing the bridge - so thinking on the spot, I pulled up the road, anticipating a good view.

It didn't happen.

Yes, they have gained four new Optare Solo SR vehicles so far - see the post above yours for registration marks of these vehicles.

Shot of YJ64 DXM here. Not entirely sure how long these examples are, but they look a good 1ft-2ft longer than the GNE examples.

Not sure on Explorer tickets on Scarlet Band services, but I saw a notice awhile back saying that they accepted tickets on services operated on behalf of Durham County Council (I'd imagine that it would still include the 113 and X49, even though they are commercially operated).

You'd probably be best asking Scarlet Band about this.
RE: Scarlet Band Motors
I was told by a Scarlet Band manager some months ago that they accepted (but I don't think issue) North East Explorers on services contracted by Durham County Council. They said that would mean that on the 85 Bishop Auckland to Barnard Castle they would only be accepted from Cockfield to Barney. So they would also be accepted on the 58, but not on commercial X49. But Explorers on independents is a hazy thing. Weardale, for example, issue and accept them on all their services except their X21 Stanhope - Newcastle, presumably as they don't get sufficient reimbursement.

Looking at Flickr they look like they are the same length as the GNE examples and also looks to be the same length as the silver example they are currently using on service 113 which is a 33 seater, it's good if they are the same size as when I've seen the Park and Ride the last few weeks it has looked pretty busy.
RE: Scarlet Band Motors
Been on YJ64DYG and YJ64DXU. Suprised to find they had plastic moulded seats at the rear. Plus the rear section seems higher than on the older Solo models. No doubt something to do with them being Euro 6.
