Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2014

RE: Go North East - Latest
Service through Low Fell was fine but for some reason struggled to get back from Newcastle and everything seemed to be going to Chester

Drivers were telling passengers to get to Chester if they wanted to get to Durham

Sadly no. I was suprised to even see it. It is pretty much the same as 3826 was after its bash at the Metrocentre.

I'll take one for the team and try and get a photo in Newcastle - it's due in about 30 mins or so and I'm at Gateshead now.

Service 17 is currently unable to operate through Forest Hall due to an incident at Benton Railway Bridge, will be diverting via Great Line Road in both directions.

------------

Not GNE but the metro..

Tyne and Wear Metro

There are no trains running between Benton and Shiremoor in both directions, this is due to a vehicle hitting a Metro bridge. We will update you once we have more information.

3890 was back on the road today, working the DFDS bus at around quarter to 3. 3891 meanwhile had been parked up in Clayton Street most of the afternoon. Lights off, and without a driver in sight. Not sure if this was awaiting recovery or something?

The buses arrive whenever, but just go when required. I saw 3891 on the 327 at about 15:20.

Ah okay. Just thought it was strange that the bus was left completely alone there. Not complaining like, as I was on the look out for it anyway.  Cool I can imagine 3867 being a pain in the backside to find now though!

Aye, the drivers usually hang around together outside of Central Station.

3867 was also on 327s today - the bus behind 3891.

Has any more of the Silver Arrows or Blaydon Racer's being repainted?

We haven't seen any of the Blaydon racers being painted for a while.

I hear Trent Barton and Kinchbus are investigating whether footrests can be provided to help customers resist the temptation to rest their feet on face-to-face seats.

Seeing as I nearly always see this happen when I'm on a GNE bus (not so much with Arriva or Stagecoach for some reason!), I wonder if they may also look into the possibility of this?

Interesting, though I think that it will remain as an 'investigation'...

I'd imagine that the cost of installing every face-to-face seat on a bus with footrests would outweigh the costs of replacing the seat moquette periodically.
