Was still there at 17:40.

Following on from my earlier enquiry, does anyone know how much one of these blue buzzfare ticket things cost? I've got no clue where to find it on GNE's website, and I've looked on the map/zone page without a result Sad  Thank you

One zone is £4.75, so it can be used anywhere in the blue zone + Part of the purple zone (Gateshead, Newcastle and Metrocentre).

Just worked out, looking at Malarkey's earlier post, that it is cheaper for me to go to Newcastle and get the bus to Royal Quays, than it would be to go to Blyth first which is about 10 miles less from where I live compared to Morpeth, turns out going the long way around will actually be cheaper, haha bus companies everywhere

If you already have an Arriva ticket, why don't you not try and get the 308 to Rake Lane, then a single on the 17 is £1.50 from there?

Or, you could get the 57/57A into Whitley Bay, then the 17 to Royal Quays. You could purchase a Bay + Shields DaySaver for £3.30 which would allow return travel?

Not sure if it's been reported, but 5251 appears to lost it's rear advertisement.

Orbit 8332 is back in service following its crash the other day. It has a new front bumper with no branding.

Just seen this now, cheers Smile

I'll try and get money so I can get a blue buzzfare, as I'd like to experience some more GNE buses (would be the two /four as opposed to one/two), if not I'll try and figure out where to get off and on, for your suggestion Smile

Just remembered that last night at 23.45 a dead 21 was at the Gateshead end of the High Level bridge thus blocking the whole bridge! The narrowing of the bridge doesn't make much sense if one bus can block it. The following  21 which I caught at the Metro interchange had to use the Tyne Bridge and I presume that the broken down bus was eventually started as subsequently two 21s went through Low Fell.

Does anyone know what bus Go North East will have at tomorrows recruitment day at Metrocentre, my uncle, who is a driver, mentioned it could possibly be one the new streetlites, is this right?

Doubt it, if they're offering that people can turn up and have a drive...

Well, I just though I'd ask on the forum, drivers aren't always the most reliable for information Wink
On another note, do you think I'd be allowed to go along just to have a look at the bus they have? Bearing in mind I'm only 14, so not exactly their ideal recruit Big Grin

There's nowt stopping you really, because of where they're holding it. But worth baring in mind that their goal for the day is to recruit new drivers, rather than to appease enthusiasts.

Of course I wouldn't get in the way, but if they get desperate for drivers, I'm always here (I'll just make sure to grow my moustache to look a bit older) Big Grin

Well if they had a Citaro there all the recruits would be very enthusiastic but then when they started service they would  be disappointed and realise the harsh reality of streetlights. At least by sending a streetlite they would let people know what they getting into Big Grin
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2015
If GNE are wise, they will encourage youngsters (although maybe not to drive . . . ).

Many people are 'fired' by their early enthusiasm to develop this into a subsequent career.

We hear of people who sat in an aircraft when very young and this lead to them becoming a pilot later on.

GNE (and other operators) will always need drivers (at least until we get buses that drive themselves), so it makes sense to encourage youngsters - though not to the extent that the day turns into a free-for all for kids.

Polite recognition of the interest shown by those as yet too young to drive (a bus) would be my approach, but not preventing any genuine interest from would-be drivers who are old enough.

You can hold a Passenger-Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence to drive a bus at the age of 18. At Arriva we tend to select people to train as bus drivers who are 21 or older, and who have held a car driver's licence for at least 12 months. In London, where the driving environment is more challenging, we ask for 2 years experience.

Anyone going to the recruitment day at the Metrocentre?

Been here twp minutes and I've already witnessed a near miss.

Bazza is in attendance along with someone else taking photos.

Nah. I was going to, but decided not to in the end. What's been happening, and what vehicle(s) have they brought?
