Scotland Bus Operations

(30 Aug 2014, 8:06 pm)tyresmoke wrote Aye just done a search and it is Henderson Travel's ... visited their depot on our day out to the Commonwealth Games - very welcoming they are too! They had this as their NIS screen, quite nice to see an operator personalising it! They even invited us onto their new E200's which they had just picked up the previous day, to show us what they were like!

Pretty sure I saw a few brand new-ish Enviro 200s at Hamilton today, they were pretty smart - unlike the North East and North West tat! Wink

RE: Scotland Bus Operations
Parked outside Alexander Dennis (Camelon) for over a week now has been E200 YX64VPG with vinals at the top of the front windscreen for "Lochs Motor Transport Ltd".

I presume as it is a E200 with a Yorkshire plate that this was built at Scarborough, and that it was taken to Falkirk for collection?

Lochs Motor Transport are based on the Isle of Lewis,
RE: Scotland Bus Operations
Interesting that a few days after the E200 for Lochs Motor Transport (YX64VPG) disappears from Alexander Dennis that an all-white E200 appears at AD that was delivered new to Lochs Motor Transport in 2010: YX60DXR
RE: Scotland Bus Operations
Totally irrelevant, but everytime you mention Falkirk/Camelon, I think of the Best Western I used to stay in up there.

The car park behind the hotel attracted all sorts - normally involving flashing headlights and steamy windows!

I believe these are to be assigned to services 3 and 33, replacing the current Wright bodied double decks that operate on these services.

Without looking at my e-mails, I can't confirm whether these cascaded double decks are due to replace the last remaining 25ish Darts in the fleet or whether further 7900s will achieve this.

Interestingly, a Dart was shown at the Open Doors Day to be trialling some sort of system to upgrade the vehicle's Euro status. I wrote something on the caption of the photo about the system - if anyone fancies digging through my photos to find it.
Some of the Darts are also having their seats reupholstered. Whether this is to increase sale value (unlikely - as this didn't happen with the Y-reg Darts) or suggests further use in the fleet, I do not know.

To provide an update on the Volvo B5TLs...

About two thirds of the 25 are now undergoing testing, ahead of delivery. Would imagine they'd start to be delivered to Edinburgh by the end of the month?

(30 Mar 2015, 9:12 pm)Kuyoyo wrote Lothian Country Buses are taking 2 Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2s from the main Lothian fleet ahead of improvements to the 113 - the first treated is 937 (SN10 DKE) The other is expected to be 938.

938 was done a few weeks ago Kuyoyo and has re-entered service on the 104/113.

(31 Mar 2015, 9:46 am)Scott wrote I am guessing that these will take over from the 2 Tridents.

As Kuyoyo said, "improvements" are being made to service 113. The service has increased to a 30-minute frequency, resulting in an increase in PVR, hence why two further vehicles have been painted in green and cream.
RE: Scotland Bus Operations
(31 Mar 2015, 2:24 pm)Adam wrote Very similar to the red tops on the 26. I'm sure I read somewhere that one reason Lothian paint the top of the buses is so that customers can identify services coming along the often congested Princes Street.

Its identical (apart from the number and colour obviously). Still rather poor. Plus you have all those unbranded services that go along princes street...
RE: Scotland Bus Operations
I'm in and around Edinburgh this week, and just went to ASDA for some petrol, and when I arrived 5 buses, all on different services from what I could tell, were all sitting there, unbelievable bus service, don't think you'd catch ANE, GNE or SNE sending 5 buses to a Supermarket at the same time!
RE: Scotland Bus Operations
(08 Apr 2015, 6:44 pm)Malarkey wrote Quite odd that Lothian painted that batch of Vehicles into Madder and Weiss with Red Tops, to then put the Zoo Branding over the Top.

But baring in mind those vehicles have been running around with just a red top for a number of months (possibly even a couple of years?), it would be stupid to just paint the red top and leave the rest as it was.
RE: Scotland Bus Operations
Park's of Hamilton have been getting a number of new coaches in their 2015 order... with the sale of several 2011 and 2012 models. The KSK950/1/2/3 Elites on National Express work (they run the 534 through the North East) look set to be replaced very soon. The first two Leopards are now in the fleet, albeit 70 seaters so unlikely to appear on express coach work.

I've attached a latest fleet list that I've worked on... Not in the best format but it'll do for now I guess!

Park's run the National Express 534 service (among many others) and also duplicate the Megabus M20 service many days of the week.

Didn't last long, mind.
