Noticed that there's been a transforming fund won to widen this to two lanes so buses can use the route which is supposedly being done now but I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything about this.

https://goo.gl/maps/2PW1z7W3AcDDPk6M6 - This is Follingsby Lane for those non-local.

Seen it mentions though, 'This re-routing provides new sustainable travel opportunities by bus from Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland, which will reduce car trips to these places,' so is there longer terms to redirect the X9 and X10 down here, seems a bit strange though as it'll slow them down quite a bit. Not sure what bus from Sunderland could go down there; X24 maybe?

Just thought it would be a good chance to have a tracker of the current National Express workings operated by GNE from the restart as the network is likely to be changed in future.
The network restarted on 01 July 2020 with a very limited service running.

Go North East are currently running the following diagrams
From 01 July 2020
905 1120 Newcastle - London VCS 1955
905 2200 London VCS - Newcastle 0525
910 0820 Newcastle - Birmingham 1400
910 1500 Birmingham - Newcastle 2040

Russ Petty has noted on the Arriva North East and Yorkshire Enthusiasts Facebook group that 1429 & 1430 have transferred to Arriva Yorkshire's Heckmondwike Depot on temporary loan.

(02 Jul 2020, 1:03 pm)Kuyoyo wrote Regular for the time being - X3/X3a now interworks with 64/64a in Middlesbrough so pending the resumption of refurbishments and repaints, Temsas will remain regulars on there. Rumour was, pre-Covid, that a handful of Pulsars were to be refurbished for the X4 allowing all X3 boards to become Streetlite operated but we'll have to wait and see on that front.

Are the potential Pulsar refurbishments in place of the original plan which was for Stockton's Streetlites to swap with Redcar's Pulsars? To me the swap seemed like the most appropriate solution to avoid mixed allocations!

Announced internally to Go North East colleagues earlier this week by a team briefing was the award of the Miscellaneous Works contracts for the 2020 academic year.

Subject (but unlikely) to change during the ‘cooling off’ period, Go North East has been awarded 31/61 of the contracts it operates currently.

The 30 lost by Go North East have been awarded predominantly to Stagecoach (x9), and also to other operators, including Gateshead Central Taxis, Stanley Travel, A-line Coaches, and Weardale Motor Services, L&G Coaches, amongst others.

If the North East was to roll bus franchising out, would vehicles operating services be required to operate in the NexusBus livery? Also with the likes of Stagecoach saying it will lead to higher taxes and lack of investment is completely untrue. If you take a look at TFL, services operate efficiently, and despite a higher subsidy the network of services are more accessible and understandable by the general public with the simple Oyster card.

It's the areas where only one operator runs is where you find the most problems. Look at Jarrow for example, dominated by Go North East although twice now they've changed the South Tyneside Hospital bus route, meaning as a result Nexus have had to step and provide the additional service. When the Metro was on strike last year, GNE took full advantage by charging normal fares.

If buses were franchised and there was one very affordable ticket that could be used on any form of Transport (not like the £7.80 Day Rover) then you would have more people using services and have services better connected.

And my final point is how Stagecoach treat their X24/X34 passengers by refusing to pay the bus station departure chargers, and as a result cause extra congestion on Pilgrim Street, not the nicest place to wait when everybody seems to push to get on the bus if it stops in the wrong place. I understand these services need to make a profit to keep them going, and with Stagecoach trying to do everything they can to reduce costs it seems passengers are not getting a good deal. And lets not forget how much the price of a day rider on Stagecoach has gone up, now £4.70 when it was only £3.90 when the X24 first started...
