Information from "Steven Knight Media - Fleet News Ramblings":
I wonder what's on order for the North East this year, if any?
➨Stagecoach UK Bus 2017/18 new vehicle orders
The various Stagecoach UK Bus subsidiary companies are currently setting their budgets for the 2017/18 financial year. The current work will confirm that bids for new vehicles, which have already been made, have been agreed. The full order details are not expected to be confirmed by Stagecoach Group, however, until all the budget planning work has been completed and signed off.
We are aware, however, that new Enviro 400MMCs for the Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire fleet have been agreed and delivery of 33 vehicles, with fleet numbers from 10811, will start imminently.
I wonder what's on order for the North East this year, if any?

29th and 30th July 2017
@ Seaburn
Dates for the first North East Festival of Transport have been confirmed.More info - https://www.facebook.com/NEFestOfTransport/
The weekend of 29 and 30 July 2017 will see the inaugural North East Festival of Transport taking place on Sunderland sea front. Entry forms are now available.
Being spearheaded by groups including the North East Bus Preservation Trust and Sunderland and District Classic Vehicle Society with support by Sunderland City Council, the event is set to bring together vintage buses, traction engines and commercial vehicles, classic cars and motorbikes at a prime location on Sunderland's award winning sea front.
The event is aiming to fulfil a long held wish of transport enthusiasts in the region to create a major showcase event, similar to those held in some other part of the country.
Interest among vintage vehicle owners is already high with hundreds of vehicles expected on the large and easily accessible show fields, within sight of Sunderland’s Blue Flag award winning beaches.

Just returned from Barcelona and I disliked the airport. With it being one of western Europes busiest a shed with one food place and two shops plus no place to charge your phone is pretty poor, though appreciate terminal 2A, B or 1 may be better than T2C where I was. Some other bad places I have experienced are:
Zante-Nothing other than a sweaty, hot shed with a duty free shop and A cafe with faeces on the walls in the toilets
Heraklion-Just a bigger Zante
Barcelona T2C-For the reasons mentioned above
Sharm-el-Sheikh-Not much seating, very overcrowded and the food places are dodgy with the Chicken burger I ordered looking very like turkey... Though I appreciate this is T2 and T1 looks to be better
There are some places I as impressed by though, such as:
Antalya T2-Big airport that had te right amount of capacity. It is modern and has a lot of food places and a lot of shops. The only irritation was the day I was there, it rained which is abnormal for August and the smoking area was open top, so some areas flooded a bit.
Singapore Changi-Been voted best airport in the world by Skytrax. It has a butterfly garden, it has a river, it has showers and it has lots of facilities such as restaurants and shops.
Heathrow T5-Lots of food places with lots of shops plus two extra buildings. The only downside is the lack of fast food.

I've recently have been browsing through my backlog of mediocre flickr pictures.
My very first and very latest pictures are around 200 views each, both have only one like but the same tag and same groups added.
My pictures from boxing day have 200-300 views with very few likes. In the same timescale, my new years eve pics have as few as 13 and as many as 76 views with 1 like. My Consett/Sunderland pictures from summer also have extremely low view counts, until Great North Run day, where my post viewed - but least liked content lies. Most of the pictures are 400-600 views with only perhaps one like.
I have a picture of an Olympian from the 16th that has no likes and 150 views. Yet the day previously holds a picture of some olympians gaining more attention and more likes even though they have all been subject to the same options of attention on my part.
Given I have only 20 followers, it's not expected that I get many views, but my content seems to gain tonnes of attention for one or two days, but then the day after that, any content uploaded will be perhaps 80-100 views maxing. I have always uploaded my pictures first thing in the morning or last thing at night, both produce similar trends, added to the same groups and same tags. I don't have good equipment or anything, I'm not really known around the community so I'm not expecting anything as such. Any theories about how pictures can gain more or less attention under identical conditions? I've uploaded some real trash which has gotten loads of views but no likes, and some good stuff which has had loads of likes with hardly any views.

Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2017
This is actually just a standard 144x19 display - not Colour RN.
The 144x19 displays are split up into four different panels. The original display in 5378 was found to be defective so returned to Hanover for repair, and replaced with a colour RN display which has had its colour RN panel replaced by a standard white LED panel (ie similar to the one which is in Versa 5390).
The colour of the boards is slightly lighter on the Colour RN and white displays, compared to the standard amber, which is why it appears to have a black background.
The Colour RN displays are more susceptible to faults, and as Go North East only use the Colour RN displays to show a white route number now (excluding Quaylink - although that's likely to change soon), these are now just being replaced with standard white panels. These show the white route numbers more clearly as it's not a multicoloured LED trying to 'mimic' the white colour. Other buses to have received the white panels recently include 5246 and 6089:

Zooming in also shows the annoyance with this type of display in Helen - the colour of the route number doesn't seem able to be changed on its own and the background colour must be changed too which, in this case, would be black.
