After a bit advice, so if you can hang with me on this one...
Apart from the stuff you do as a kid, stars and planets have never appealed to me at all.
The only thing connected with space, that even got me excited was a Mars Bar or a Milky Way.
Until receny that is...
I have lost count at how many clear skies I have seen recently. An obvious by product, is the endless vision of stars and distant planets.
Based on nothing more than curiosity, I have been wondering which clump of stars made which constellation and which of them was Venus or Pluto.
Downloaded one of those apps, where you can view the stars etc through your phone - but bearing in mind I am a complete novice, do any of you have any tips to share?

Following on from discussion in this thread, I've decided to set up a new thread to explain things properly and so I can set up a poll.
My proposal is that, once monthly (presumably on a Saturday), we organise a day trip on NEB. Your family and friends can attend even if they are not members of the forum. While the locations have not yet been established, there is plenty of scope for the places we could go to.
This will presumably be cheaper than travelling by train (which would have been the alternative), and allows us to get together to get away from the North East and get some great photos.
I have contacted approximately 15 companies based around the North East asking for a quote on how much it would be for a group of us to travel to Dunfermline in mid-August from Newcastle Central Station. This of course is related to the SVBM Open Weekend, which several members have shown interest towards. It would be great to have an idea of numbers just so I can tell the companies, should they ask.
If you are interested in accompanying us on these day trips, could you please fill out the poll above and outline in a post some of the places you would like to go to. If price is one of the things which would be the decision-maker for you, feel free to PM me or post below with the price too.

Whenever a picture or file is added to the site the vast majority of the time I get the following message:

It doesn't happen with all pictures but most of them, no pattern to it that I can see either.
As you can see I am logged in looked at settings and nothing appears out of the ordinary. Any ideas?

To anyone who understands Copyright Law:-
A few years ago I bought the autobiography of my Great, Great, Great Uncle, Jimmy Seed who is one of Charlton Athletics most successful managers...
Recently it got me thinking, I would like to type it up word for word and make it available for anyone to read who may be interested in it, but I dont want to fall foul of the law...
The book was produced in 1958 by The Sportsman's Book Club and my ancestor died in 1966, what is the law in this country regarding expiry of copyright and would I be i breach if I went ahead and published it online myself?
